It is dangerous for the baby to over gestate. She needs to go to the doctor for induction.

If she's under a doctor's care, he may suggest inducing labor if it doesn't occur soon. I always feel that it's better for mother and baby to wait for labor to begin naturally, if possible, and I'm sure your friend is very close to that. Walking is probably the best thing to help it along. Just don't let her wear herself out too much. Labor is just that, and she will need her strength.

Folks will give you all kinds of suggestions, from washing the car to drinking mineral oil, eating hot foods. While none of these really work, there are two that are safe and do work. Have sex. Physically, this encourages your body to have that baby.
If that doesn't work, go to the doc and tell him how you feel. That you are getting sad or depressed, that it's really TIME. Your doc will know if it's safe, and he may be happy to oblige, being able to work it into his schedule, rather than a call in the middle of golf.

Walk, walk walk.......
My sister will tell you to eat roast beef, but I personally think it was just a fluke that she went into labor each time after eating it.
