With such a thriving state, try the pound. If you get a dog there, you can play with him or her, get to know them, be sure you click together.

Try the newspaper. The local paper really is the second best choice. Local breeders are all over, for all kinds of dogs. I suggest a yorkie, they are the perfect small dog since they don't shed, they are so in love with and faithful to their owners, and not so small and shaky ..and not nippy at all like a chi.

If you go to a store or a mall, expect them to be mildly drugged, possibly sick and wildly overpriced. I truly wish no one would ever get a dog at the mall.
