If you can speak to the local football club sometimes they run clubs for older kids .Your son is at school now ask his friends parents what they will be doing they may help out other than that you could employ someone just to be there to watch over him make his lunch just so his not on his own

A 10 year old in High School???? This sounds a little odd since the common age for starting high school is 14-15... A child this age can ride the school bus to a recreation center or daycare after school... some elementary schools offer afterschool programs... I would ask the adminstration office at your childs school, they usually have an idea of what you can do...

High school must be the equivalent to middle school AND highschool combined here in the states I am guessing. Many schools have after school activities so look into that. Here in the states, many parents have to take time off from work during school holidays.

My mum left us at home from the time I was 10. It was a slightly different situation though as we lived in australia on 6 acres and there were several other families nearby who we could contact in an emergency. Where we lived there wasn't really any trouble we could get up to because we were about 8km from the town and 3 km from even the local shop.

Im only 22 and Im not a parent but the best way to watch your kids is to know who their friends are and making sure they are hanging out in the right groups. Let your kid's friends hang out at your house, movies, dinner, just hang out, let them just hang out at home with friends that way you will know what they are up to, or will have a good idea of who their friends are and can have an idea of what kind of things they do. When they start driving its another story but by then hopefully you will know who their friends are.
