Rub in lots of baking soda and let it sit awhile. It does great work with my smelly rubber boots, at least.

You can try baking soda sprinkled on the fabric and let it sit for about an hour or so and then vaccum with a high powered vac like the ones at a car wash. I have also used pet fresh carpet fresh on the carpets in the car- it absorbs odors very well and they have some that wont overpower you in a car.

I'd try some Natures Remedy. It's designed to work on pet odors but will work on this as well. It uses enzymes to break down the cause of the odors instead of camouflaging it like some other products. You should be able to find it at any of the larger pet supply stores. You might also talk to your doctor about the possibility of using childrens dramamine for your son.

Start with Febreeze for fabric. That will eliminate it for now. Then get a small cardboard box lined with newspaper, and put some charcoal briquettes in it on the floor. Be careful to place it so it doesn't tip over. Change the briquettes every three-seven days.
Also, talk with your son's doctor to see if anything can be done about the carsickness.

Try Kids N Pets. It's an enzyme-based cleaner that works great. It takes smells and spots out. I've used it to clean up a lot of throw up. It's a great universal cleaner. It even got nail polish out of my carpet. You can buy it at most WalMart stores and some Targets.

I got really sick in our pickup years ago. It was beyond terrible. I took it to a professional carpet cleaner who was willing to do the pickup.
It was wonderful. They got the smell out and my truck looked brand new on the inside.
You might try having your son sit in the middle and keep his eyes looking down so that he does not see the motion.

I keep hearing about this product called ZorbX. They talk about it on this radio show I listen to all the time. Supposedly it's completely odorless and it gets rid of any smell. They sell it at Lowes. The host of the show swears by it. He says it completly kills his cigar smoke.

Try pet smell remover. Vinegar may also work but then it will smell like vinegar.
