I met someone that cuts hair out of her home. I didn't ask her how
much it cost. Do I just pay her what she says it cost, or do I add
on a tip?
Thanks in advance

First, pay her what it cost... Only and only if she did a great and I do mean great job would I tip.. If you start now you will have to do it if you come back and that's not a habit you want to start...Just in my opinion.

I had my hair done out of a younglady's house and I asked how much it was and about tips because I truely didn't want to feel that I should have to give her one... She told me that a tip would be accepted of course but it wasn't nessassary. She said that's what her tip jar was for.. tip if you want...

I was always told that if the Hairdresser owned her own shop ,you do not have to tip , but if she has a helper ,you would tip her . It's not to say you could not tip the owner , because by all means you can .
If the owner has a shampoo girl , you would also tip her .
I'm only going by what I was told.
I've never had a problem with it , but i always tip owner or not .

WHy in the he ll would you go to someones house to get a haircut? Are all the salons in your town closed down? The person probably doesn't even have a license. No license means if something goes wrong (a nick in the skin can cause infection, that you would have to see a doctor for. Don't even get me started on things like ringworm, dandruff and other contagious scalp and skin disorders), you can't blame anyone but yourself.

That is the way most salons are in my area with the exception of places like master cuts. We usually don't tip because they charge too much and they own the salon. They are getting all of the money anyway, unlike salons where the stylist are being paid salary, or whatever. If it is in her home, then you know she owns the salon. No need for tipping because no one is paying her but you.

YES you do tip...and pursuant to how much you do or don't like your service and results you add a little more to show appreciation...the last stylist I went to received a tip from me and as a result she gave me a discount card for my next service...

it depends. if she does a good job then sure, tip her, but if you dont like it or if you think the service she's providing you with was bad, then you're not REQUIRED to tip, though it's the polite thing to do.

it depends on how it looks.
if you love it then you should give a tip but other than that i dont think its necessary.
