The sore neck started yesterday morning, fever started yesterday afternoon. Is it ok to wait until 6:00pm tonight to see a doctor? That is where outpatients is. The only other option is to go to the emergency room and wait for hours probably.

It is my b/f suffering. Not sure exactly his symptoms. He kept telling me to give him a neck massage, he said his neck is both sore and swollen.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions like that. If your neck hurts on the sides it might just be swollen lymph glands (common in an infection). Does it feel like two little knots under the ears half way down your neck? If so, it's probably swollen lymph glands. But call a doctor and tell them your symptoms over the phone--if they think it's an emergency they'll tell you.

Symptoms of severe headache, vomiting, & not being able to touch chin to chest also accompany the symptoms mentioned when determining meningitis. However, only a spinal tap can completely determine a diagnosis of meningitis. This individual is ill & needs to see a doctor. Go help your man feel better. Good Luck.
