If you have had them removed then you can NOT get tonsillitis. You might just have a sore throat or strep throat. I was told by a doctor you can't even get strep throat once you have had your tonsils removed though.

Did your tonsils grow back by any chance? I know it sounds weird but it can happen. My mom had hers out when she was a little girl and they grew back a few years later!

Yes you can - I had mine out when I was 16 and I remember the doctors telling me that I could still get tonsilitus (though obviously not as often). I still get a lot of throat infections even now together with the tonsilitus symptoms.

You can't get tonsilitis but you can get a similar illness that is similar to a throat infection. It clears up in less time than tonsilitis though, about 2-3 days. Don't worry it's fine. My sister had her tonsils out and she has, in 8 years, got it 3 times.

Know the asteroid wellhead tonsil stones them for many years and it's been title not eventually.

Best decision I've ever made! I was shocked by the way of getting out the stones out. It was so easy, but more importantly, painless. I really liked the little trick he had for preventing gag reflex. He have one happy customer here.

You can't get tonsillitis, but you are just as likely to get a sore throat. 85% of there are viral and would not respond at all to antibiotics. Most of the rest, which are bacterial, will also go without treatment. On average giving antibiotics to patients with sore throats only shortens the illness by about 24 hours.

Take plenty of fluids and regular paracetamol. If you do become more concerned about yourself contact your GP.

Some people have their tonsils regrow. If you have a nasty s/t that you are saying that feels very much like tonsilitis and your tonsils have not grown back, then it is very possible that you have caught that nasty bug that is going around. This bug hits you and hits you hard and it doesn't let up for about two weeks. If you are like me, you will get a nasty case of laryngitis out of it as well.

I had my tonsils out five years ago and while I don't get symptoms as bad as tonsilitis I still get bad sore throats.

Farringitis is similar to tonsilitis and I had that since I had my tonsils out.

You can still get the same infection as tonisllitis but not as bad because the area it affects the most is the tonsils but you can get the same infection on the back of your throat - antibiotics can clear it up

You can indeed I'm afraid. I had mine out about ten years ago and have had tonsillitis a few times since. Having them removed lowers your chances of getting it, but doesn't make it go away altogether. I have to say I have found that when I have had it since it been worse.

Hope you feel better soon.

Ah-ha! This may be laringitus. Which is an infection of the throat. Go see your GP. If you do have an infection you will need a course of antibiotics to get rid of it.
