Not in war. Did they get away with it?

I haven't, if that's what you are thinking.

I don't know of anyone who has "maliciously" committed the act of murder, but I know of two people whose actions have led to accidental deaths.

A former co-worker's ex-husband who was a policeman in the town I live (where I was a reporter and frequently worked with the police department) was on patrol one night when he struck a man crossing the road in the middle of the night and killed him. There was a major uproar and an investigation, and although there was no real legal action taken against him as it was shown that the light in the area at the time wouldn't have been sufficient to see the man, but still, he moved out of the state, even, following the accident because of the controversy it caused.

But someone I knew even better - my next door neighbor - was allowing a child to ride on her bumper and she looked down and didn't see the little girl. She assumed the girl had jumped away to safety, and when she felt a bump, she wondered what she'd hit so she backed up to see. Unfortunately, everyone reading this has already guessed that the "bump" was the child who had been riding on her bumper. She was brought in on all kinds of charges, but she was only sentenced to two years in state prison. She is currently appealing that sentence and isn't even in jail right now. Go figure!

I know a cop who killed a suspect in the line of duty.
I know someone else who killed a drunk pedestrian that ran into the street. (She never drove again, even though she did the best she could to avoid the guy.)

I'd say both ended up getting away with it.

Oh, I knew a train conductor too. Lots of people are killed on the railroad tracks. He ended up killing himself, all the people that died while he was conducting the train finally got to him.

Yes, I have known a few over the years. None that I absolutely know did it got away with it, although Paul didn't go to prison for running over that Kid, he was tortured by that and probably still is. Dave went to prison for his part in that terrible crime he was involved in but I'm sure they let him out by now, they buried a guy alive back in the seventies, that was a bad one.

Abortion is not murder.
My neighbor downstairs was murdered by his lover/roomate a couple years ago. He got 8 yrs. A guy I had a crush on when I was 13 murdered his roomate a few months back. I haven't seen anything in the paper about the outcome of that one yet. They both beat their victims to death.

No, I don't know of anyone who has killed someone. Most people don't get away with it. Those that do probably have a hard time dealing with it for the rest of their life.

My eldest daughter's exboyfriend killed his new Gf's Grandad when she dumped him. He is in prison now but I don't know how long for.
A lad who lives up the road from me was recently involved in a drink riot where someone was killed - I think that case is still ongoing.

Yeah, my (ex) husband shot an intruder in our living room one night.
They tried to prosecute him, but he was found not guilty.
