Are you sure you have the term correct?

Monastic means "of the monestary" or having to do with being in a monastary.

If you actually mean Monistic, then it's the concept of having multiple gods, unified by a single unifying essence or principle.

Having the belief that every phenomenon consists of one substance, be it spiritual/mental, or physical.

Edition:In addition to monistic idealism (the belief, a la Berkeley, that all is spiritual substance) and monistic materialism, there is also, of course, for existentialists such as myself, the monism of the phenomenon itself. Pure phenomenology is what this is called.

Monistic means to believe or hold true the concept of Monism. Clearest description I've found :
Monism is the metaphysical and theological view that all is of one essence, principle, substance or energy and that there is one, universal, unified set of laws underlying nature.

Monism is to be distinguished from dualism, which holds that ultimately there are two kinds of substance, and from pluralism, which holds that ultimately there are many kinds of substance.

Pastor Billy says: I think you mean monastic

it means to live in community like nuns or monks and live a life of contemplation and prayer. The great monastic movement in the Western Christian world was started by Benedict. Many times this monastic life symbolizes the going to the desert like Jesus Christ.
