Speaking from experience: I didn't get my first perm until I was 15 years old. I had the natural untouched hair. It was horrible in my opinion never straight, always kinky. And if you are African American you know exactly what that is. It was really heavy and I had to continously comb the kinks out. Back area which is in the south normally called the kitchen area was severe...I had naps which are rolls of hair that have been tangled and twisted almost like a knot.
I used to have it straightened every week or so with a straighting comb. Which is used to press the hair straight. This puts heat to it and relaxes the hair without chemical. Some say it's very healthy and keeps your hair natural I say It burns your hair out. It's a very hot comb and it's used to comb your hair...That hurts.. trust me!
Now, perming... when I recieved my perm I was so excited because I wanted the straight mangeable hair. And it all depends on how thick, and what texture your hair is how it will turn out... Results are different on everyone.. I had a great experience and have had a perm every since....
I think perms are good but you have to have your hair tested to see which kiNd would work for you...

You have to do what works for you really. I mean I know folks who have had natural hair and the only they do is comb it and go and wash it every week or so. It depends on the natural style. If you're going for locs then you're going to have to put in some work to keep it loced and clean. If you are just going for a fro then it's pretty low maintenance. Natural of course is healthier because you have no damaging chemicals in your hair nor are you putting heat in it, which is the worse thing for hair. Now with permed hair, you can keep it healthy by not putting much heat in your hair by getting styles like roller wraps or sets or even getting rods or a straw set. Having rods or a straw set gives you a glimpse into the natural world as you only have to fluff and put oil in it to keep your scalp from drying. I hope that helps.

perm has less care if you want straight hair and you'll only have to re-perm every 6-8 weeks once your hair grows out but once you start you cant stop unless you cut it off and natural is less damaging to your hair but requires more work

natural of coz.. once u permed and ur natural roots start to grow and the top is straight but the bottom half is curly.... eewwwwww! dat's juz unfashionable and attract unwanted attention which wil give more negative comments than positive ones! if u want to style ur hair, juz use the curling iron coz it's temporary and u can have more fun wit ur hair styles! *good luck*

natural if you have managable hair. i just got perm out my hair and now i have my natural hair. it feels so good that if I can go for weeks and months without trifling touch ups risking my hair falling out. now, i wash my hair once a week, get trims and deep conditions and straightening it with a straightening iron. while other girls look like crap cause they dont have the money or dont feel like going to the salon. i can rest assure that all i have to do is wash, dry and goooo

I would go with Natural. a Perm can damage your hair really bad depending on ur hair type. but then with Natural you are just going to have to use that curling iron. so i would much rather curl it everyday then damage it.

I perfer natural. In my opinion perms breakoff your hair. People think perms are suppose to make your hair striaght but they don'. They stretch your hair out. That's all.
