been involved in a automobile wreck where the other person was talking on a cell phone AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT? Were there other factors that contributed to the accident?

You have to be a DEFENSIVE driver these days if you want to survive on the road. People are stupid. You should anticipate meeting stupidity everywhere on the road.

I haven't had an accident as a result of paying attention and anticipating that on every corner there is some idiot taking a corner with a one-handed turn while the other is jammed in their ear and their brain is who knows where....frankly, I dont know how they do it.

I never answer my cell on the road...ever...I KNOW I could cause an accident. I just could not do it. If my kids are with me I have them answer, hold the phone and put it on speaker.
Otherwise, the bloody call can wait.

I can't believe people who can't wait 10 minutes to make a phone call...it's like a bad habit for most people however. Especially women.

They just think getting in a car is synonomous with yapping with ANYONE. One call after another...I've been with some of those types.

So frankly, if a car phone is involved I think they should automatically double that person's insurance rate and they should be penalized.

If someone caused a death that was on a cellphone I would be suing them for millions in damage.

No. I manage to avoid accidents for the last several years. But I can easily see how talking on the phone would be a major factor causing the collision...

Not me personally, but my mother in law was. She was driving with a friend as passenger and when she slowed down and signalled to turn off the road she got rear-ended. The guy was on a cell phone when this happened. Apparently he was quite the asshole about it. Here were two senior ladies in the middle of nowhere and he hardly gave them the time of day! He didn't offer to bring them anywhere but just left them on the side of the road. Go figure... So, are you doing research of something?

No, I haven't. Neither do I know anyone who has - but I was rear-ended at a traffic light by someone who was tuning their radio.
