Catholics are the original source of Christianity.
After doing a lot of research on my own, I became a Catholic. Since I already believed in Jesus, I wanted to find the most Christian church. I chose Catholic because it is the original Christian church.
As a little background to this, Jesus created the first Pope when He said to Peter:
"I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it." - Matthew 16:18.
Peter was therefore the first Pope, or Holy Father and each successor Pope was chosen until today. There is actually a trace of all the Pope's (Holy Fathers) in the church back to Peter.
I like the church, and since it is the original source, I can trust more in how the Bible is interpreted and what Christ wanted for His church on earth. Also I like that I can go to any country or state and visit a Catholic church and I will get the same mass no matter where I am. But most of all, I like the Eucharist which is eating the bread and drinking the blood (wine) of Christ at every mass.
The Catholic church was also given authority on earth when Jesus said to Peter:
Matthew 16:19
"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."
Of course Protestants broke from the church about 500 years ago and now there are literally hundreds of Christian churches. Now, I would be the last one to criticize other Christian churches because the thing that matters the most is a faith in Christ and living a Christian life which is hard to do. But the good news is that Jesus is about peace and love and forgives sinners.

It is simple. No disrespect intended, but no matter to what Christian denomination a person belongs to, they believe in the words of their leaders. Thus, for Catholics, the Roman Catholic Church is the true Church of Christ, but for Luterans the true church would be the Luteran Church, and for the Baptists it would be the Baptist Church, while for Latter Day Saints (Mormons) who openly claim that theirs is the True Church, it is so, because their leaders have taught them that, and they, like everyonel else beleived in that which they have been taught.
Besides, I do not know of any Christian leader that have ever taught anyone to follow his "false" Church of Christ. They all claim theirs are the true ones.

because when I read the history of the Catholic Church I realized that it. Jesus sent the Spirit of God onto His 12 apostles on Pentecost, giving them authority to start His church, religion, to go out over the lands and teach what Jesus taught them. the authority to forgive sins, the authority to marry couples in the name of God, the authority to baptism in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, etc. Peter was the first bishop of the church, then the first pope. The Holy Spirit guides the church in holy scripture. That's why we believe that the pope is infallable in scripture, not in anything else like non-Catholics say.
I've read "Early Fathers" and books about the papacy and history books on Constantine. I am sure that the Catholic Church is the universal church that Jesus gave His 12 apostles to start and is the one that us Catholics are still following. Many say we're crap because we believe whatever the pope says and no human can be infallable. They don't understand the truth. Jesus sent the Spirit of God to see over them. The pope is only infallable when he teaches and speaks about holy scripture. He doesn't give his own personal interpretation of scripture, what he says is directed from the Holy Spirit. And this can be done because Jesus can do anything, God can do anything. God of course would not let the Church make errors in His Word.

The best way to tell if your church is the true church of Christ, the church of the Bible, is to compare it to the Scriptures.
If your church is found in the Bible by name, by doctrine, by methods of worship, and by the way it is organized, then you are a member of the true church. (See Acts 17:11)

According to the Bible the church of Christ is the bride of Christ for which He gave His life. If your church adheres to the teachings of God's Word (the Bible), then it is the church of Christ.

The first church was Orthodox. Not Catholic. Check your history books again. Roman Catholics started as a split from Orthodox. Due to this, they are very similar religions. Orthodox stays a little more traditional than Catholic. I do not agree with the interpretation of Peter as pope. How it can be said the Pope is infallabe when it comes to scripture is beyond me. No one is infallable.

All denominations have their own doctrinal teachings. Unfortunately some have drifted far away from Biblical doctrine.
The catholic church is not the original Christian church as some think. The early church evolved into the catholic church by 600 A.D., and they dominated the Christian world by force (sword) for nearly 1000 years. Anyone who disagreed with the "church" was executed. It was not until after the reformation that Christians who disagreed with Rome actually lived to tell about it.

Lord Sri Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gita, chapter 7 entitled Knowledge of the Absolute verse 21, and chapter 15 entitled Yoga of the Supreme Person verse 15,
I am in everyone's heart as the Supersoul. As soon as one desires to worship some demigod, I make his faith steady so that he can devote himself to that particular deity.
I am seated in everyone's heart, and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas, I am to be known. Indeed, I am the compiler of Vedanta, and I am the knower of the Vedas.
Purport to Bhagavad-gita(7.21) by A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON
(International Society for Krishna Consciousness)
God has given independence to everyone; therefore, if a person desires to have material enjoyment and wants very sincerely to have such facilities from the material demigods, the Supreme Lord, as Supersoul in everyone's heart, understands and gives facilities to such persons. As the supreme father of all living entities, He does not interfere with their independence, but gives all facilities so that they can fulfill their material desires. Some may ask why the all-powerful God gives facilities to the living entities for enjoying this material world and so lets them fall into the trap of the illusory energy. The answer is that if the Supreme Lord as Supersoul does not give such facilities, then there is no meaning to independence. Therefore He gives everyone full independence—whatever one likes—but His ultimate instruction we find in the Bhagavad-gétä: one should give up all other engagements and fully surrender unto Him. That will make man happy.
