The scene on The Mount of Transfiguration (Matthew 17) also tells us that there is recognition beyond this life. Jesus went to the mount and took with Him three disciples. He was transfigured before them, and there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with Him. Moses represented the law; Elijah, the prophets. Elijah, you remember, was taken up in a chariot of fire. He was translated. He did not die. Moses died upon Mt. Nebo and was buried, but his body was never found. These two came down to talk with Jesus.
We will notice that the disciples recognized Moses and Elijah. Thee had not known them upon the earth, but they knew them now. This indicates to us a glorious prospect of Heaven, that we will know not only the ones we know now face to face, but our knowledge will be so great that we will know others who have lived before us. Yes, we shall know each other in Heaven.
in Luke 16 we have the story of the rich man and Lazarus> It deals with hell, but it teaches also recognition beyond the grave. The rich man knew the beggar who was laid daily at his gate. When came to both, he still knew him and saw him in the bosom of Abraham. The story assures us of recognition beyond the grave.
The Apostle Paul surely indicates recognition beyond the grave when he wrote to the people in Thessalonica,
"For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even
ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For ye are our glory and joy." I Thess. 2:19,20. |
Doubtless other portions of the Word will establish the fact of recognition beyond the grave, but I believe that these are sufficient.

No, because I don't know you now, how would I recognize you in Heaven? lol

But I think I see what your question is getting at, will we know each other in Heaven as we did here on Earth. The answer is yes, but know that the only thing left of you when you die is your soul (your love). That is what is returned to God, or I should say whatever is left of your soul is returned to God. So if you know someone's soul, then yes, you will know them in Heaven.

I can tell you that after Christ returns, there will be a 1000 yr. period of teaching and disipline for all those who did not have an opportunity to learn truth and be saved; Ezekiel Chapter 40 til the end tells what we will be doing in the eternity, and for those in trouble, it is said that we who did overcome can go to our family members and help them. Obviously, we couldn't do that if we have no idea what they look like; also, keep in mind that we are created in the image that we had in the spiritual body; yep, you will recognize people, for sure.
