It takes longer to break down. Your body will absorb smaller amounts over a longer period of time. Be careful not to ever cut or break up a pill labeled "extended release" as it will dissolve faster than designed and you could take too high of a dose too quickly.

I t is suppose to mean , the drug will not be released into your system all at once, it will release it's self a little at a time. Sounds crazy. I t is suppose to extend the length of time the med works for you .
