All down to taste but personally I would go for the Merc for reliability and resale

Bear in mind that both cars are old-ish designs, due for replacement soon.
The next-generation C-Class has already been announced (see http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/first_official_picture.php?page=1&sid=406 ), and the next-generation A4 will probably be announced at the Frankfurt motorshow this September.

Personally, I'd choose the Audi, simply because I think it looks better, but I'd go for SE spec 2.0TDi with the Audi and leave the sports pack off the Benz (and choose a 220CDi) - neither are sporting cars, so why try to dress them us as such. If you want a sporting car, go for a BMW 3-Series or an Alfa-Romeo 159.

It all depends on your preferences, test drive them all and see which one you like to drive and are comfortable. Its looks are unimportant in a way if you are going to finish every journey tired and with a bad back.

For example, I will drive a Vauxhall Corsa OK, but really dislike driving a Peugot 206 (Im using examples there that are not like your choices on purpose by the way)

The Merc and Audi are both nice cars, and will loose bucket loads of cash in a couple of years with depreciation - if thats your worry, buy a 1 year old version.

You can look at say, which magazine or Autotrader or something to get the cars relaibility, and ask at a dealer how much it would cost to service - find out which is most relaible and most expensive to fix if it breaks

And finally decide what you are going to do with your car, is it just you driving around in it? Do you have familiy and children as well (need to be able to fit them in).

I dont think we can answer which is the best car, it varies for every one.

Depends on what you want too spend money wise? Audi can be just as expencive as a Mercedes Benz. But for resale value I'd go with the kompressor! Plus it will also last long & be more to maintain! But for resale value I'd go with the Kompressor!

A car is your biggest depreciable asset, basically your throwing your money away no matter what you buy. It looses value as soon as you drive off the lot. Your question should be "What car should I buy to where I waste the least amount of money?". If that's not an issue then spend away. I prefer the Mertz, however.

Don't know but thought i would point out the mistake by the crack down boys, BMW have never actually made a m5 convertible- they did design one as a prototype but it was never put into production.
