You have to make reasonable advances to giving him his belongings back. Make sure you also document every chance you give him. Call him maybe on a cell phone with voice recorder and tape the conversation you have. Bring up specifically what you still have at your place and give him a deadline to put it up. 30 days should be enough. You can also put all the belongings in a self storage unit and only pay for a month's worth of storage. Again let him know and let the owner of the storage know that this is his stuff. Document everything that was put in because if he doesn't come and get it or you stop paying for it, the stuff will get auctioned off and you troubles along with it.

I would check with your state law concerning this one. In some states its a year others six months after that deadline you can dispose of them as you wish.

I think if you're not married........and you have possession over the stuff......and he left it there....and you didn't steal it....and he can't prove it's his....

then, give him a date..write him a letter ( yes, a regular letter in the mail, return receipt requested )..and tell him everything will be at the curb...if he wants it, he should come and get it...if he doesn't get it.....someone else will.....you will not be held responsible for anything he claims to be his after that date.

and then, stick to your guns.

Throw it out. If he's not coming 2 get it, then it's gone. Or, if ur a gentler soul, mail it all 2 him. Just don't take it back.

there is no legal law..just a moral law to do the right thing..ask one of his friends or relatives to get his stuff if he can/t or won/t..but at least try to get the stuff back in a short time...if they won't..pitch it
