Look how many deaths are caused by alcohol,
Drink driving cars / train drivers / etc,
Alcoholism, creating liver damage etc etc,

Especially with the current 'Alco-pops' targeting kids.

With so many people abusing alcohol, why are their no concerns over it??

Or does the UKs Banning of smoking in pubs help this issue??

Alcohol dependancy is a massive and growing problem.

Aside this it generally makes people aggressive. Yet the government allows TV Advertising etc etc

Apparently in the U.S more people die through Alcohol than all other drugs put together.. (O.k This is due to the fact its most popular, but hey, governments LOVE stats!)

Zip-a-dee etc :- my main point to all this is
Other drugs are targeted, Nicotine, Cannabis, then of course the HARD drugs like Crack Cocaine, heroin etc etc,

Alcohol is JUST as bad if not worse because its socially acceptable, yet NOTHING is done against it.

I agree so many people die everyday from alcohol related accidents. So many innocent families are split because of it. My husband is an alcoholic and in 15 years he has drank only an few times but it was not a pretty thing. No wonder he shouldnt drink. When youve seen it with your own eyes it really changes your feelings about this disease. It sucks. I agree They wont show cigarette commercials but you see liquor everyday. Which kills just as many people if not more .

Your arguement came up years ago, so alcohol was made illegal. That was back in the early twenties. It couldn't be enforced. Alcohol was everywhere. Gangsters made fortunes, while the government collected no taxes on the alcohol.
Alcohol is easily produced, therefore it can't be kept out of the hands of those who want it.
You ask why there are no concern for the problem. There are great concernes, but there is no practical way to do away with alcohol. It's as if the government, realizing that overpopulation is one of our greatest problems, would make a law against having sex. Just how effective do you think that would be ?

THey tried to ban alcohol once and it didn't work and only supported gangsters like Al Capone. Other drugs are just as bad as alcohol, and some argue that marijuana ISN'T even as bad as alcohol, but alcohol is part of mainstream culture and has been for thousands of years whereas other drugs have not been part of mainstream white culture. The same thing could be said of tobacco, it's far more deadly than other drugs with half of all smokers dying of smoking related illnesses, but it's still legal because it's a mainstream drug

I have always wondered the same thing. It doesnt make sense,...alcohol is legal while marijuana is illegal. They should make all of it illegal. They have banned smoking in public places but yet a person can go to a bar, not be able to smoke, but can drink to stupidity, get into their car and drive home, risking people's lives including their own. I cant figure it out and you cant fight the government so whats the use. Were living in a messed up world. Try to keep safe.

anything can be abused even food.i don't think water can be abused but that's another question.look at what the prohibition did to this country,we don't want that again.education is the solution, not banning.people are always going to have alcohol one way or the other.prohibition was a losing battle.oh by the way i haven't drank in 10 years myself,in case you were wondering.i'm not defending alcohol i'm just stating a fact.

One of the reasons why alcohol is legal is because it is a self limiting drug, meaning that if you ingest a quantity that is too much for your body to properly handle, your body will go into convulsions and expunge it.

"Self Limiting", don't know of any other drug that acts that way.

That is also one of the reasons the medical community is cautious about legalizing marijuana, as it is an anti-convulsive such that if you use, then in the combination you risk killing yourself through/by alcohol poisoning as the marijuana is an anti-convulsive and will somewhat nullify the reality of your bodies normal convulsive reaction to excess alcohol ingestion.
