There are at least 146 commands in dos( the number of commands also depends upon the version of dos used) and they are divided broadly into two categories, internal commands and external commands.

Here is a list of complete commands

The internal commands reside in COMMAND.COM, which loads into memory when the computer system is started; these commands do not reside on disk. The external commands are files that do reside on disk and have an extension of .COM, .EXE, or .BAT. Both command types are executed from the MS-DOS prompt.

Depends on the version of DOS being used. The last "stand alone" version of DOS (6.2) had around 160 commands.

The "command prompt" version included with later Windows (XP) has far fewer. You can see all those DOS command by starting a comand prompt session, and typing in: help. They will all be list on the screen for you. There are about 70 of them.

Give or take a few there is around 140 DOS commands. It depends on what operating system you are using.DOS commands are becoming a thing of the past and not used as widely as they were with older operating systems because newer operating systems do the work for you automatically.
