1.PISTON ROD:
SAE-4140 : heat treat aircraft quality induction hardened. This is the most widely accepted material in use today for compressor piston rods. It can be heat treated for maximum strength and is easily induction hardened on the surface to provide superior wearing qualities.
2.CONNECTING ROD:
SCAT 4340 FORGED H-BEAM .
Small end having a hardened steel sleeve and big end is having a white metal/babbit metal-split bearing in it.

Air compressors and air pumps can be made many different ways and multiple types of materials. I suggest you do some further research following the link I've provided below. Remember air is a gas as well.

what is a master rod? maybe you mean the piston rod.
made of steel. depends on the type of compressor and where it is used.

Are you speaking of a piston rod? If so, it may be steel or aluminum, depending on the unit.
