I used to suffer terribly with prickly heat from being a child and it would drive me MAD!! I would get it just playing outside in the garden. Eventually I seemed to beat it by using sun oil rather that the lotion (Don't ask me why) I regularly wash and swim then reaply the oil while out in the sun. At the first sign I use hydrocortisone cream from my doctor, cover up for a little while to cool down then start again.
It worked for me in Jamaica where it was bloody hot!! Now I can enjoy the summer again.
Good luck, love.

Prickly heat is thought to be due to blockage of the sweat glands. This can occur when we sweat a lot such as when on holiday in a hot country. Heat, sticky sweat, dead skin cells, and dead bacteria on the skin may all contribute to blocking the sweat glands. If the sweat gland is blocked, the sweat seeps into the nearby skin. This causes tiny pockets of inflammation which causes the rash.
Possible preventions and cures are:-
If possible, avoid excessive heat and humidity.
Avoid further sweating. Even if this is possible for just a few hours each day it can make a big difference. For example, staying in an air conditioned room for a few hours a day. A cool bath can also be soothing and help to avoid sweating.
Calamine lotion may cool and soothe the skin.
Wear loose cotton clothing.
A steroid cream may soothe the irritation whilst waiting for the condition to clear with the above measures. You can buy hydrocortisone cream, which is a mild steroid cream, from pharmacies.

The best thing I did was to take regular cool showers, and keep dipping in the pool to stop me sweating.
Best of Luck

You need to stick with high sun creams over the first couple of days then gradually lower the factor. Don't stay in the sun too long at any one time. make sure you keep your skin moisturised. After being in the sun, cool your body down with a luke warm shower. take antishistamines to help with the itching.

Ouch, I can sympathise as I get prickly heat too, its horrible! I find that E45 cream really helps as does Palmers cocoa butter. There was a cream that I bought in Cyprus last year and that was brilliant, but dont have the name sorry!

Antihistamines like Piriton should help also make sure you buy a sun cream for sensitive skins too and in the evening bathe in some bicarbonate of soda which should reduce the urge to itch. drink plenty of water and sit in the sun and shade alternately

Enjoy the sunshine

well i have experienced this problem, got it all over from head to toe, all the skin was infected and i could not move, it came on over night, asked the doc why this could happen and one of his answers was far too much stress over a short period, which i found to be very true, my wife and father had been killed in a car crash 2 days before i got this, he gave me all the nessary creams and bath liquids, it went away within a week and has never returned. hope i have helped in some way brian

Try plain old corn starch. Its worked for me for years. Just dust it on / in all the places you get the heat rash and reapply often. It makes a great diaper powder for babies too.

Not sure how you PREVENT it, but if you do get it, try a luke warm bath, followed by a liberal dousing of calamine lotion (don't go out with the calamine on - just use it over night!)

Clay. You can use it as a cream and as a medicine (melt in water you drink it). Read on google about "clay"!
