To celebrate it's 250th anniversary, our church will be burying a time capsule to be opened in 25 or 50 years. We want things that will symbolize the world around us (such as a stamp and current NY Times), our church (sermon preached on our anniversary Sunday) and our church school (prayers written by the kids). Any other ideas of what to include? Or suggestions on what to use that will keep it all well-preserved?

KEEP A COPY OF A CHRISTIAN CATALOGUE OR MAGAZINE AND SEE HOW VIEWS HAVE CHANGED AND HOW CULTURE HAS SHAPED CHRISTIAN BELIEFS AND PRACTICES. RIGHT NOW, WE ARE IN THE SELF-HELP THERAPY FAD.

Instead of a Newspaper how about the names of ALL the people who came forth and was Baptized and committed their lives to God by accepting Christ as their Savior. There are so many things you could put in it relating to your Church, and when you buy the Time Capsule there will be a way to seal it preserving the contents. They would not sell it unless there was. Also put in the Church Roll of the Members and how long they have been a Member. People love praise and if you do that you will get more donations to buy the Capsule. I DO NOT mean anything bad by this, but it is just Human Nature to be this way by some people. Good luck, and check around the Church Records for mile stones that have been accomplished such as additions to the building, and the growth of the different classes, and also the number of the children that attend. These are only a few but as I said, there are tons of things that can be included if you search the Records. How about the name of the very first Pastor and list the ones following him in order and the years they served.
