I'm getting fed up with my parents watching my child when i work graveyard shift (approx. 7 shifts per month). Has anyone used a night day home/care? What were your opinions. (Note: This is only a temporary thing for a year or two until I go back to school for my masters).

Yeah I wish my mom would watch my kids so I could work , I hated leaving my kids with strangers. Do you have a friend or any other relatives that could watch your child while you work instead of your parents >

I'm not sure if I'd trust someone else to be watching my child at night. I would rather my parents watch my child so that nothing happens to him/her during this temporary schedule. What if your child were to get molested or raped? Have you talked to your parents and see how they feel? Maybe they don't mind watching your child as much as you think they do. It's up to you on how you feel with whoever will be watching your child. But if you're asking me how I feel about it or if I have done it before... I don't think I would ever use a babysitter for overnight and I've never done it before. I would trust my parents more than someone else.

Why are you fed up with the arrangement with your parents? Are your parent's complaining or are there other issues which have come up with this arrangement? If you trust your parents and your child enjoys being with them, then maybe you need to look at this as a good arrangement. You are lucky to have parents to rely on (assuming that is the case here!). I have never used night home care, except for my own parents, and it is not out of necessity. My little one just likes to have a sleepover with my parents occasionally. Perhaps you need to take a closer look at what bothers you about having to use your parents and maybe it is not as terrible as it seems.

You didn't say if you pay them or not. But you know that they are with family. I wouldn't trust overnight stays at child care centers. You never know what will go on. Like do they really take care of them right away when needed. Plus how much will it cost? Think hard and go with your gut feeling. I would......

Why would you take your child away from people he/she knows to leave them in nightcare with strangers? Just curious! When I was a single parent I would have loved to be able to leave my boys with grandparents instead of strangers.

my mother watches my son a few times a week for only a few hours and she gets on my nerves as well. since i don't pay her, i trust her completely and i love her i put up with it. its really not all that bad. i would rather my mom get on my nerves than leave him with people we don't know.
