It could be that his job as an Industrial Painter doesnt help, as strong pungent smells such as paint give a normal headache to some people. I suffer migraines and mine is not htrough what I eat, it is bright lights that cause mine, even when it has been snowing cos everything is so white. I usually get a warning when one is coming on, i.e. numbness of the fingers and paralysis in my face, tunnel vision etc. As soon as this happens I immediately take 2 co-codomol and close my eyes for 15 mins. This usually helps deter a fully blown migraine.

Good luck to him, hope he is ok xx

Your GP will not treat migranes and will tell you/your son to keep taking tablets. That's not much help. If, however, you manage to find out the cause of the migraines then you are in better position to find a permanent solution to the problem. With me, it's usually either sinus problems that cause it or not enough sleep. If your son had a sinus problem and that's what causing the migraines then he would have to get his sinus problem treated rather than the migraines. There are other things that can trigger it off, stress, lack of sleep, too much excitement, certain foods etc. Good luck, in the meantime, make sure he takes migrain tablets as soon as he can see the first signs of migraine such as aura, sickly feeling etc.

i think your son has a very very bad migraine Toppa and it makes me wonder if indeed it is migraine. I would feel inclined to get another doctors opinion on this, the lad is leading half a life ///make sure no cheese/chocolate / alcohol/ sweet drinks and go into a dark room when a bad attack is coming on your eyes will tell you 15 mins or so before. Good Luck son i sure hope you shake it off real soon

I use to get them really bad during puberty. I just had to sleep. It is really awful so I can sympathise with him. Peoples face use to go funny and I was sick when I had them. I mostly just slept but I can see that isnt practical for the amount he gets them. Your doctor doesnt sound like a lot of help it sounds like he might need to see some sort of specialist to me. I would have thought there would be some sort of website . Sorry I wasnt much help but I think you should see another doctor or look on the internet for a specialist. Good Luck I hope you can sort out this problem.

I suffer from them. When i started my current job i made them aware that i suffer from them and they said whenever i get a migraine, to just take a break from my computer.

I have tried cutting out caffine, cheese, chocolate. This does help a bit.

I found out that environmental things can cause them such as strong smells, cold winds, squinting at the sun, crying, being in shock etc.

I take Migraleve from the chemist, try makeing a doctors appointment maybe they can give him something to help.

Go back to your doctor.... be dominant with him....Insist that you see a specialist, as Its not normal to have such severe
pain so regularly. Do not tell him you think Its migraine If he doesn't make you an appointment, go to the accident and emergency department at your local hospital next time It appears and tell them you cant carry on like this..Tell them Its more regular than what It Is......They will probably arrange a scan for you.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

I used to suffer from really bad migraines - so bad my doctor prescribed me imigrain to inject anytime I got one. I stopped having migraines a few years ago but they have recently come back due to stress, I have started using Syndol - and it clears them up no problem.
