Canadian Merit Scholarships (CMSF) - Canadian Morehead Awards- Up to $12,000/yr, usable only at Dal, UNB , Mount Allison, Memorial, and University of Moncton in our area. 80% + average, well-rounded, leadership, extra-curricular/community involvement. Applications are at the Guidance Office. Deadline: Received in Halifax by October 25, 2005

Canada Trust Scholarships - Each scholarship includes full tuition, $5000.00 towards living expenses and a guaranteed offer of summer employment from TD Canada Trust. Outstanding community leadership in balance with academic success is required. Past recipients have generally been instrumental in starting programs and groups in their school or community that are of significant help to others. Applications are at the Guidance Office. Deadline: October 31, 2005

Burger King Scholarships - 1600 scholarships in the amount of $1000.00 given through US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Criteria: Requires a 75+ average, community involvement, financial need, and you are working an average of 15 hours/week for 40 weeks a year. Requires recommendation from employer and school. Applications are at the Guidance Office or at http://www.bkscholars.scholarshipamerica.org Our school can only nominate one candidate . Wendy's Classic Achiever Scholarship Awards - 10 awards of $2000.00, 20 awards of $1000.00 and 180 awards of $500.00. Criteria: well-rounded, excellence in academics (70%+), leadership, extra-curricular/community involvement. Apply on-line. Deadline: December 29, 2005

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program - Awarded to a student planning to attend a Canadian post secondary institution. St. Thomas University - 2005 Harrison McCain Scholarship - $16,000.00 payable over a four year course study at St. Thomas. Criteria: 80% average after the first term of the senior year of high school, financial need, leadership qualities, and a recognized initiative on the applicant's part to fund his/her own education. East Coast Credit Union Graduation Bursaries - Several awards are available for those students who have been members of the Credit Union for the past year. Nova Scotia Community College Entrance Award - NSCC is offering 26 entrance awards in the amount of $2500.00 Applicants must have been offered admission to a full time program at NSCC and have a 75% average in high school. Nova Scotia Fruit Growers Association Educational Bursary Program - One bursary in the amount of $500.00 to a student entering or already in a post secondary educational program in the field of: Tree Fruit Production, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, Plant Science, Environmental Science, Business or Agri-Business. Trappers Association of Nova Scotia/Marion Sweet Memorial Bursary - One scholarship in the amount of $500.00. As well, applicants must the demonstrate the values that personify the Olympic movement, have a grade average of 85% in their final year and be an accomplished athlete in high school, community or provincial level competition. Each applicant must submit a 500 word essay on "The role of the labour movement in today's society". Garfield Weston Merit Scholarship For Colleges - Selection Criteria: For students planning to attend an accredited community college in Canada. Academic average of 75%, have demonstrated leadership potential, have a record of service to the school and/or community. Up to 50 awards available annually worth up to $12,500.00 - renewable up to four years. Applications are at the Guidance Office or at http://www.gwmsc.ca Deadline: March 1, 2004

University of Guelph - 14 national scholarships of $20,000.00 each payable over 4 years. Requires a nomination from the principal. Eligible students must have submitted an admissions application to Guelph. Selection Criteria: Academic distinction, demonstrated leadership ability in the school and community. Cape Breton Island Chef's Association Scholarship - Open to students who are planning to pursue culinary arts. Four separate scholarships are available depending on your field of study and the school you plan to attend. Applications and additional information are at the Guidance Office. Nova Scotia Housing Authorities Student Award - Applicants must be persons who live in housing units administered by a Nova Scotia Housing Authority and in need of financial assistance to continue post secondary education in a university, community college, trade school or technical school . Several renewable awards of up to $1000.00 each are presented. Applications are at the Guidance Office. Deadline: May 1, 2004

Province House Credit Union/Rose Benteau Educational Awards - Two awards of $1000.00 each. Applicants must a member or son/daughter of a member of the Province House Credit Union. Awards are based on academic achievement and participation in school and community. A resume is required. Applications are at the Guidance Office. Deadline: May 10, 2004

Walter H. Johnson Jr. Scholarship for Tourism - Several awards are available for those pursuing a recognized tourism post-secondary program. Swiss Air Flight 111 Memorial Scholarship - One award of $1000.00 is available for each of Nova Scotia's eight school districts. Students must have demonstrated a commitment to "building bridges" between people of different races, religions and or cultures or who are otherwise particularly deserving of aid. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of financial need and possess qualities that may indicate future leadership potential. A resume and an essay are required. Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation Scholarship - One scholarship in the amount of $4000.00 will be awarded to a student in each of the four counties in Cape Breton. Awards are based on academic achievement (+80%) and participation in school and community. The student's family income must be $35,000.00 a year or less.
