You could do it - but I would not recommend. I did it to a spot that had gotten bleach on it and messed up two spots on my carpet. I fondly remember it each time I pass that spot. Need to rip it up and get a new piece now.

No, you may not dye carpet with Ritz clothing dye the product requires rinsing. That would not be possible with carpet. You would need to remove that backing because it breaks down from water. The pad can't get wet either. You can dye the fibers and then reloom the carpet if you want to get into production. If you have a smal spot that is bleached of color you can color it in carefully with a permanent marker to blend into the rest of the carpet. Carpet dyeing is a service not performed in many areas. I would recommend replacement to change the color.
Good luck,
Jen

Absolutely Not. In fact, you can do very little with Ritz dye except color fabric and then wash the fabric alone. A dyed carpet will get stains on everything that touches it. Call a carpet store in the yellow pages that offers carpet dying. There is no economical way to do it and you may decide it is cheaper to replace the carpet for new.

Years ago my dad dyed the cloth seats in a car. Looked great until you sat on them and were wet or sweaty. The dye would come off on you. He used a bucket of hot water, dye and a scrub brush. Go to www.hgtv.com and see if you can find any info there. Type in carpet dye in the search box.
Good Luck!

Wouldn't recommend it. I rented a carpet cleaner once that someone had used to dye carpet and it ruined mine. Would not come out so I had to replace the carpet. I have seen other peoples carpet who tried this and it was a mess. Light and dark spots. Call a PRO.
