With strep you'll have a sensation of your throat feeling very closed up...very difficult to swallow or even talk at times. Painful swallowing, swollen lymph glands around ears/neck. Fever upwards of 102 possible. Ears could also be affected (sore or painful inside where eardrum is located).

You may have a viral infection...although you don't see redness in your throat it may be back further...doctor should check as you could be starting a bacterial infection. If a viral infection, they recommend mostly rest, possibly a type of ibuprofen, ginger root tea with honey/lemon or lime, Cold FX if available (natural cold preventative and aid).

My family's been fighting various degrees of this the above are a few things our doctor suggested...seems to have helped. Check with yours, he can recommend whether you need antibiotics for the bacterial infection if there is one or how to take care of yourself if it's a viral.

He'll likely take a swab if Strep is suspected...but at the moment the viral sounds more in line with what you've described.

Good luck

The only way to know for sure is to go to the Dr. and have a culture done. With a temp. of 101, you should probably be seen anyway.
