It is obvious in Scripture that the grace of GOD has been extended in the New Covenant to all cultural groups. GOD accepts bikers just as they are; and it is past time for straight-laced Christians to get over it. We don't have to look like you. We don't have to dress like you. And (here's a wake-up call) Jesus was a first-century Jew, not a 21st century Westerner. If the Bible did advocate any culture, it would be the Jewish culture. But under the New Covenant we are free.

I am willing to work together. If you want to wear a shirt and tie to church, that's great. And you'll reach a few people who expect Christians or ministers to dress formally. At the same time, we're reaching thousands by dressing normally.

If you're interested in obeying our LORD Jesus Christ in the Great Commission, we can help. We will accept you just the way you are (like Jesus does).

GOD bless you.
Pastor Shoe

I read only your first question, not most of the details after it.

I am in Texas, and there are many Christian bikers here. No one seems to have a problem acceptin them, so I am not sure what you are asking this question for. Perhaps you should move to a different par tof the country where folks are more tolerant.

Straight laced Christians? And you are reaching thousands that dress, "normally?" So then what is your point? Personally I don't care how anyone dresses. You seem to be trying to make an argument for the sake of argument. Jesus preached in a robe and sandals. I don't think most Christians care one way or the other how people dress. Of course many churches have, if you will, dress codes, but the church does not set those codes the people do. I have never seen a dress code posted in any Christian church. So you don't have dress like "us", you say? OK,
whatever, I don't think that makes me or you anything more or less. The only question is: Can I or any other Christian wear a suit to your church?

Seems to be a problem with some Christians who really just seem to want to turn out little clones of themselves, dress this way, have your hair this way and so on. By the way I am a Christian myself.

I belong to a Church where someone with a shirt and tie will sit beside and worship, pray and minister with someone in a leather jacket, tee shirt or whatever.

God does not look at the outward appearance, He looks at the heart...

There is a story of a rather staid and traditional church where a young biker, jacket, jeans etc came in one Sunday and walked to the front of the Church and sat on the floor, this was met with disgust and derision by most of the congregation to the extent that they complained to the Pastor.

The next Sunday the same man entered did the same thing and one of the church elders got up off his chair went towards the young man, the congregation were gloating thinking the young man was about to get it both barrels, but to their surprise this elderly gentleman sat down on the floor beside the biker and welcomed him to the church.

Who was the real Christian?

God Bless you and the work you do

In His name

Our church accepts everybody regardless of who they are or what they look like. We donated a bus to a pastor who ministers exclusively to bikers and makes all the biker conventions. He took the bus and converted it into a church. He is from the Dakotas. Unfortunately, there are many so-called Christians who do not understand that religion has nothing to do with Christianity and that when they turn their noses down upon people who do not look like them they are practicing religion---religion never saved anybody. I minister mainly in the prisons of Texas---hardcore convicted felons everyone of them, and I don't want to do anything else, except go on a missionary journey to Africa. I supply food for the children's ministry here, mostly ghetto kids. So, Pastor Shoe, you do have supporters who understand the real meaning of and the real mission of Christianity and who are carrying out our Lord's Great Commission. May God bless your work and increase flock beyond your wildest dreams. Jesus loves you.

Different churches have different "personalities". Some are rather formal and "stuffy" ... some are less so. A rapidly growing church a few blocks from where I live had a pastor who wore a Hawaiian shirt to preach in. We considered joining, and that wasn't the reason we chose another church.

Church is a place to worship God with a reverent attitude. It isn't a place to call attention to yourself.

I'd rephrase one of your comments .... God is willing to accept us in the sense of giving merciful salvation, but not if we expect to stay the same. The first sentences from Jesus in the book of Mark are, "The kingdom is near. Repent (turn away from your sins) and believe."

Y'know, if I were ever stranded on the side of the road, I'd want either a trucker or a group of bikers to stop. They both know what its like to be stranded like that, and they have resources they're not afraid to share.

There's Christian Bikers groups, aren't there?

I guess I don't think like a "normal" Christian- Bikers are still human. They sin as much as the rest of us, still in need of Jesus' gift... and they have as much access to His mercy and grace as anyone else...

Did I mention that I want to own a bike someday?... I've even done my homework- a Screamin' Eagle Fatboy... with a lowering kit (mostly cuz it's short, like me)... although my dad says that Goldwings are more comfortable to ride... maybe I'll check them out as well...

Actually, there are several bikers in our church. They are treated just like everyone else. They even find time to work on several of the projects around the area our church is involved in.

There are already MANY organizations out there for Christian bikers - national and regional. I personally have ridden with them.

Even congregations have groups within congregations. I have ridden with them.

What part of the country are you from that what you write after your question that such is a problem?
