Silly Josh... I just said, "I know what Good Friday memorializes (Jesus' crucifixion)..."
I am Christian myself, I'm wanting to know WHY the early Christians started calling it "good"...

Hmm.. some of the answers are interesting. I think it's because of the sacrifice Christ made for us, the fact that He atoned and died for our sins so we could return and live with Him and the Father. It's supposed to be a reminder of His life and death and the good that came from it. I'm not Catholic, so I don't practice it, as you already know, but I think the reminder is a good one. I really think we could all use at least a few days a year to remember what Christ did for all of us.

What He did wasn't done begrudgingly or with reservation. He did it with all of us in His mind and heart. I think we could all use that reminder sometimes in our lives.

Good Friday is the Friday before Easter or Pascha. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus at Calvary. This year, it is on April 6, 2007.

Good Friday is a holy day observed by some Christians. Special prayer services are often held on this day with readings from the Gospel giving accounts of the events leading up to the crucifixion. Mainstream Christian churches view Christ's crucifixion as a voluntary and vicarious act, and one by which, along with resurrection on the third day, death itself was conquered.

Because the results were good ... Christ took the punishment for our sins (displeasing God) on the cross, so as to make it possible for God to forgive us as we repent (turn away) from those sins. In a nutshell, that is the gospel.

that is false belief of the Roman Catholic Church. There is no such good Friday on the bible and every day is good provided you are doing good. Don't you know that every year the date of that alleged good Friday is changing. Is the death anniversary of your father or mother change every year. Why catholics change the date of the death of Jesus every year.
