A man lives in new york city when he gets up to go to work he rides the elevator all the way down when he comes home he only rides the elevator to th 27th floor unless someone else is in the elevator with him then he rides the rest of the way up to the 49th floor why is this?

Because he worked in the elevator, he would go down to the bottom floor to start his day, and at the end of the day he would finish on the 49th floor then ride it back down to the 27th floor where he lived

He is a midget and can't reach all the way up to press the 49th Floor button. So when someone else is in there they do it for him, but when he is by himself he can only reach the 27th. Poor guy he has to walk up....

If he is going home why is he going to the 49th floor, if when he came to work he went to the basement floor. Unless the exit is on the 49th floor.

Because the man is so short that he can only reach the 27th lift button. when somebody is with him, then he would ask him to press the 49th button, where he probably lives.

I reckon Jelly Cat is right - he can't reach the 49th button, so he ends up walking.
I did also think about him being in a wheelchair - but he'd have bother trying to get up the last 22 flights of stairs!!

well because the other someone he has wiv him is probably a work friend and she lives on that floor, so he drops her off first, then goes the rest of the way up
