depends on the food..but it is only a safe date..the food is safe for a day or two after the expiration...(cant guarantee all types of food though...)

The use by date system has been changed to read best used by. Some sealed products can be safely used by later than the best by date . There are speciality shops that sell many of these products and have a return if not satified policy .

Don't take it overserious. Look,30 yrs ago such things didn't exist and people just used their common senses like smell and eyes. Even back then we'd see immediately if it was still Ok or not..Nowadays tons of still good/eatable food are thrown away because of the expiry date - what a waste and a big slap into hungry peoples faces.

if it is not on the product you can call the company and give them the upc code and they can tell you if it has expired. my mother in law does this all the time.
