Would vaccinating a baby born from a hepatitis B mother to prevent it getting hepatitis B be considered a cure? If so what stops it from curing adults? Sorry more questions than answers I suppose. As far as I know there is no cure. Not everyone that has hepatitis B 'suffers' from it. It is possible to remain asymptomatic for life. Many babies born pre-vaccination development are. There is a lot of information out there about hepatitis B. A google search would be a good start.

please ignore the other answers, they are inaccurate. Conclusive cure for HBV is a blood test showing positive hepatitis B "surface antibody". If instead the testing shows "surface antigen" then you are still infected. Interferon cures hepatitis B in a fair amount of cases. Antivirals such as lamivudine and others cure very few, but suppress the majority of them.

Antivirals such as lamivudine and adefovir and immune system modulators such as interferon alpha (Uniferon) can lower viral levels and allow the immune system to wipe out the virus in most cases.
However there is no conclusive cure for any disease as mutations can lead to resistant strains developing.
