Yalikavak is very nice but it is somewhat a bit of a British colony and has grown up in the last few years because of the influx of British ex pats .It is in the Bodrum area perhaps if you want something more local try Bitez or Turguteis but not the Gumbet which is the a real British colony.

Quiet, peaceful yet just a short dolmus ride away from the bustle of Bodrum. Really cheap to eat out. The locals are extremely friendly. There is an excellent market once a week and the sunsets are spectacular.

Hi,
The land where dreams come true. Clear blue sea, golden beaches, amazing historical sights and warm, welcoming people.
Whatever you want your holiday to be, you can find it in Turkiye. Cruise the Aegean in your relax on the beach. You can take also a guided historical tour, if you want.
I am also recomended that site. Would you please visit and you will understand why I am writing this kind.

Its Lovely, I have British friends who live there, there is a fab harbour area and lots of nice resturaunts and bars, quiet and not at all touristy. Plenty of nice beach areas. I would have no hesitation about staying there.
