Sounds like you are having a hell of a time.I can suggest a few tried and tested remedies that work for me.For the nagging cough try taking one tablespoon of good quality honey last thing before going to bed and first thing in the morning.Do not rinse it down with water.
Another stuff you can try is a special drink ;boil 1 1/2 cup of water, add 1 tsp ginger powder,2-3 tbsp jaggery or else brown sugar,1tsp basil (a bunch of fresh basil leaves is best)and 1/2 tsp pepper.Bring to a boil and then simmer for a few minutes.pour through a seive.Drink this concoction at the highest temperature that you can tolerate.you may feel warm or sweat which is normal. If you are not able to drink all at once, take a few sips every few minutes.
drinking milk when you have a productive cough is said to increase the phlegm. So try to avoid milk for a few days.
If none of these measures or any OTC products work its time to contact your local MD.He may prescribe robitussin or robitussin ac(the one with codeine)so you can sleep better.

I'm recovering from a cough too. I usually rely on home remedies....they work as well as antibiotics and don't make you sleepy. This is what I do:
1. Gargle with this solution: salt and turmeric in water. Take this as hot as you can bear, and do it thrice a day....after u've brushed in the morning, in the evening and b4 going to bed.
2. Keep drinking hot fluids through the day. I prefer tea with ginger and pepper. Or if you have a sweet tooth, just add a dash of pepper and turmeric to hot chocolate. Instead of plain water, have water with a lil honey in it.
3. Stay away from cold things....water, juice, icecreams etc. Also avoid fried / oily foods....it makes the cough worse.
4. When I'm not taking hot fluids, I keep a lump of jaggery in my mouth.....don't bite/chew it too quickly.....keep it in for 15 min and suck on it.....soothes the throat.
5. When you go out, make sure you're warm enough. Also cover your ears especially if its windy; wind entering through the ears aggravates a cough.
I've been doing all this and my cough is loads better, so it should work for you too. Get well soon!

Cough syrup or Vick on your throat helps alot with the tickle in your throat. Clear liquids preferably not water to keep mucous thin. The cough syrup I like the best is Robitussin CF but most drs say the Robitussin DM. When real bad also try niquil! GOOD LUCK. Been there and feel bad for ya!

it could be virus,
but the again i read on papers, that symptoms for TB is severe cough, weight loss
Lot of patient go to dr, and dr assumes its virus, then their condition gets worse, and they get diagnosed with TB which is fatal.
you should tell your dr that cough is really bad and to give u something better
(i personally dislike Dr, they just assume you have this and that, without doing any tests etc. this little boy had headaches and went to dr, the dr said its just regular headache and didnt do any tests, poor boy died next day)
whereas my dr, if i tell her my symptons for anything, she would look up on the internet and tell me whats wrong!! like i havnt checked the internet myself
