I am from Massachusetts and got a ticket in Hawaii for driving my friend's car that wasnt inspected. If I am leaving Hawaii and not planning to come back, and also because the car wasnt mine do I have to pay this ticket? What will happen if I dont? Thanks.

You absolutely have to pay it, you were driving, you got the ticket. It doesn't matter if you were driving your car or not. If you don't, Hawaii will notify MA that you have an unpaid ticket & MA will notify you. If it is still not paid, your license will be suspended & you will still have to pay the original ticket plus probably some kind of late fees to HI, then you have to pay fees to MA plus reinstatement fees & who knows what else you will need to do to get your MA license back. You could have a big mess, just pay the ticket & be done with it.

The registrant will get to pay the ticket at some point. If this was a friend it might not be that senario much longer! If you knowingly drove the vehicle with the expired inspection than the right thing to do is take responsibility and keep your friendship to boot! If you had no knowledge of the inspection and the friend didn't volunteer the information, I would say to the friend, your problem- deal with it!

countless those persons are suitable. it is going to alter right into a warrant first, then yet another warrant will seek for no longer performing in court docket on the unique cost...that's 2 warrants now. each and each incorporates court docket expenses and fines. often the FTA warrant is extra costly than the cost. Then your license in MA would be droop and not reinstated until Hawaii clears you. The there are expenses and fines to get your MA license reinstated. besides your utilising record will instruct your license replaced into droop at one time meaning a larger coverage cost while they discover out. A invalid inspection isn't a dangerous citation like dashing is and could no longer impact your coverage or utilising history if paid.

You can get away without paying the ticket but if you return to hawaii and get stopped again then you will have some major fines to pay. It wont mess with your license as it is a Mass. license.

Just pay it.....

I have a friend who got a speeding ticket while driving in Texas and simply forgot to pay it. He eventually ended up losing his PA drivers liscence 30 days and had to pay a huge fine.

As the driver you are responsible to make sure you are driving a legal vehicle, the fact that it wasn't yours doesn't matter.

What you need to do is find out if Mass. has a reciprocal agreement with Hawaii. If they don't you should be 'home free.'
