I wrack my brain, trying to figure out how so many Christians can reason the answers they reason.

Having been de-converted, I understand what a Christian believes. But there's a big hole somewhere - like this galactic bell-curve that just prohibits any measure of sound reason.

It's like a scary movie - a Twilight Zone where everyone around you is kind of insane.... Not a lot, they can speak English and drive and shop... But really!

It is astounding how much of the essence of the meanings of so many of these questions Christians completely miss!

If anyone knows of a genetic component that would correlate religious belief or faith with an inability to reason properly, I would love to hear from you.

Likewise, in psychology. I realize that many Christians have been indoctrinated since childhood and that this type of early predisposition to bypass reason can galvanize into a reality/delusion complex where the "victim's" ability to critically investigate their beief, dies.

It's very unlikely that specific religious beliefs have a genetic basis. The variation in types of beliefs is cultural, although the propensity to seek religious answers, the craving for transcendent experience in response to a sense of existential longing may well have a biological underpinning.

It is well recognised, for example, that people with temporal lobe epilepsy are often highly interested in religious subjects. There's some not entirely irrational speculation that the Prophet Mohammed (and perhaps the founder of Christianity Paul of Tarsus) suffered from this condition, and more recently the brilliant and iconoclastic religious scholar Karen Armstrong comes to mind as an example.

A complex and very interesting question. I'm pretty sure, though, that the dull ravings of fundies of all stripes have more to do with education than any genetic determination of religious traditions.

pleasing question. i do no longer think of we are able to account for faith scientifically as a results of fact we at the instant are unable to substantiate the intensity of real emotions interior the applicants for the try. a guy can say he's a "solid Christian" yet have not got any abiding pastime interior the hunt for God. What he fairly means is he's extremely satisfied in his church, likes to hearken to the comparable formulation for salvation stated persistently, and feels he can no longer meet a bad lead to Hell as a results of fact he "accepts Jesus." Is that real spirituality? If the try matters have been countless those forms of folk, then the fairly religious human beings have been never secure interior the technique. Who searches for God, who cries for His corporation? who's prepared to forgive actual everyone who wrongs him, provide his money to the poor, bypass the extra mile consistently to assist human beings? there's a larger everyday mandatory for the "God gene" applicant pool. you won't be able to positioned religious progression right down to strategies chemical compounds. How stupid. Loving God isn't the comparable as increasing your strategies chemical stimulation with the help of ingesting chocolate.

You may love reading the concept of "Rational Spirituality" available on the Dhaxem website. It would answer your question.

However, and in a nutshell, a more advanced, and hence a wiser, and a more intelligent Soul, will choose to incarnate into such parents that will genetically enable it to further build on its intelliegnce, ... and vice versa.

well said bro. I think the earlier a person begins with their brainwashing the more severe the damage. Some people are just stupid anyway and need easy answers for why things are the way they are. Look at the average person.....how stupid are they? Now realize that half the world is more stupid then that person.........really boggles the mind......... :)
