My passport is up for expiry next year, so obviously my picture is nearly ten years old! does anyone know how stringent the security measures are when flying to Europe? I have checked various Gov websites but there is no info regarding pictures unless damaged.

they are issuing biometric passports now.
I have a studio and take these all day long, they have very strict rules now throughout europe. They have to be taken with digital cameras and are MUCH bigger than previous ones.

They used to specify that the photo at the point of issue of passport should be not older than 3 months. I don't know, maybe they relaxed this a bit. Ask the passport office.

When you renew your passport the photo has to be less than 30 days old I believe!

The photo you submit must look like you now,if it doesn't you're better off renewing it to save problems later..

They don't look at the photo, they look for the authenticity of the passport.....the photo is just like your drivers license, it doesn't really capture your best side, if yours is like mine........
