Never heard it. Ive heard; The only way to the Father is thru the son; and God is Jesus, and Jesus is God.

Wordsworth said it. I always assumed it meant something like the son teaches the father, and in that way is sort of his father. It could also mean that one's son is the father of men yet to come, like the father of the future. A sort of demonstration of how growth is cyclical. But I'm not an expert. Although I never assigned it any religious connotations, and I don't see any reason to. I would say it had more to do with interpersonal and/or societal growth.

This might explain what you're looking for:

William Wordsworth. 1770–1850

---The Rainbow---

MY heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man;
I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.

I think I may have heart this before. And there is a saying very similar to this one, using family relationship words, but I just cannot remember what it is exactly. This sounds to me to be a pun. Literally any son cannot be his own father´s father, but one man´s son can be a father to his own son.

And another one about Bible: "Who is the father of the sons of Zebedee?"
