I have very thick healthy hair down to my shoulders. It's thick and curly. My hair grows very quickly, I got a hair cut at Regis hair salon and the person who cut my hair jokedly said "you'd be a cancer patients best friend right now". I never thought of donating it. Someone told me to sell it, I would be interested in that, but even more interested in donating it to cancer patients or just anybody who needs hair... I'd appreciate any answers from people that know any information on that subject.

Idea of donating hair is very good. but if you donate it to a cancer patient what are they supposed to do with it?

My daughter lost all her hair because of aggressive cancer treatments. I collected her long hair in a box and keeping it.

If you were to donate your hair to my daughter what am I supposed to with it.

It needs to be made into a wig before anyone can use it. There are lots of wig makers but I would not know if they would donate your hair to a patient after making it into a wig.

The wigs that are supplied to the hospitals for children or adults are all made of synthetic hair and they look so artificial.

If you can find a wig maker who would also donate, then go for it. But if it does not turn into a wig which is not donate it then you might as well sell it on eBay.

You are the luckiest person on the earth and blessed from heavns for that matter.
But never say, jokingly also, the following!!!

jokedly said "you'd be a cancer patients best friend right now".

Goid will be saying 'THASTU', always for your wishes. Anyways,
why wish bad for other salso!

Actually it is very sacred to donate the hair for the needy.
At 'Tirumala also regularly people donate the hair, for good...to the 'Lord venkateshwara'...from where it goes to market.
The old belief is there...
But if you want to donate for the patients, you consult a good physians, and trained beauticians also, lot many agencies are there.
But when you have a 'Very unique good mind is there',
better give the hair to the needy paitients, and you will get priceless, valuable, blessings from receiver and the 'Heaven'

My grounds keeper (an American Indian) wore his hair in a thick plat down to the back of his knees. For years. Then, one day, he came to work with a crew cut.

What the Hell?

He donated his braide to cancer patients. WHAT A SACRAFICE!

I was (and still am) SO impressed!

http://www.locksoflove.org/donate_hair.php

1. We accept 10" minimum hair length (tip to tip). We cannot accept wigs, falls, or synthetic hair.
2. Please bundle hair in ponytail or braid.
3. Hair needs to be clean, dry, placed in a plastic bag, then padded envelope.
4. We need hair from men and women, young and old, all colors and races.
5. Hair may be colored or permed, but not bleached or chemically damaged (if unsure, ask your stylist).
6. Hair swept off the floor is not usable.
7. Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid.
8. Hair that is short, gray, or unsuitable for children will be separated from the ponytails and sold at fair market value to offset the cost of manufacturing.
9. You may pull curly hair straight to measure the minimum 10".
10. The majority of all hair donated comes from children who wish to help other children.
11. Layered hair may be divided into multiple ponytails for donation.
12. Please note: Anyone can cut your hair as long as the above guidelines are followed.
