Hello. I have OCD and I often worry about very insignificant things for days or even weeks on end. Theres something I've been worrying about for the past week or so, and I just wanted to see what other people think about it.
The other day I just sitting around and thinking about what route I should take on treating my anxiety disorder. I had doubts about all my options, so I decided to pray to god. I prayed that whatever decision I make about it, that I would be glad I made it.
What I've actually been worrying about is my prayer. I'm worried that god will take over my free will and MAKE me WANT to make the decision that will make me glad. But I don't want god to MAKE me want to make the right choice. I just want him to let me know what it is so I can make it myself. I've also been worried that for now on, ANY decisions I make, I'll only be making them because he makes me want to. Everything from what shirt I wear each day, to things that I decide to create.

Hey, fundies want to take away the right to believe as you choose (christian fundies in the west and Europe, Islamic ones in the ME). So, if they would take away that freedom, what makes you think your's wouldn't be?

God will help one make his own mind over, to learn to want what is in harmony with his will. He doesn't force anyone. That wouldn't be worship, which must be out of true love, which must be voluntary. So, that would be out of harmony with his principles, & that is the ONE thing that he is Not capable of doing.

Relax.

The choices you make will be entirely based upon what you think and reason. No God is going to give you any thought. That is because of a simple fact that all Atheists are fully aware of.
You ready?

Yes, He does do that. In the Bible he took away Pharoe's free will, so that he would not let the Hebrew go even when faced with plagues; because He wanted to wreck Egypt so the whole world would know His power.

you have your own life , any decisions you make come from you...
actually i like your prayer , you pray to be happy with any decisions made , that is a nice possitive prayer
and whether God grants it or it is a placebo from faith then i dont see that it matters
but trust yourself , trust that you can and do make good decisions , trust that any decisions you make that dont turn out so well have been good lessons
God wont MAKE you do anything xx

my thoughts are with you.
God does not and would not take away his gift to you of free will
the decisions you make are your and yours alone.
he can help us to make the right choice but if he takes away your free will, ask yourself why didn't he take away Satan's, Adam's Eve's and every other persons that is alive.
