Look it up under google or any of your favorite search engines. Many of the Chinese martial arts can easily be learned by video/dvd. Point of fact, all chinese martial arts used to be learned in this manner (solely observation) and many still are learned this way in China today. Originally, only advanced students who had memorized ALL movements were given hands on training by their masters; all other students merely mimicked the aster as he repeated the movements over and over again. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. You can learn this same way buy buying an instructional DVD of Bagua Zhang (of which there are many) and slowing down the play with your remote and practicing in front of a mirror sometimes. I'm not saying that instructors aren't necessary at all, far from it, but I am saying there's no reason you can't get started right away doing what you want to do! I've surprised several teachers by coming to my "first" class in a certain art and already knowing the first form, and sometimes they say something like, "That was very good! You only need to _______ and i think you've got it."

actually yes.

I know a few good teachers but they are in new york city.

They mix it with other internal arts and are more practical minded in the aproach rather than having you circle walking till the cows come home.
