I don't disprove God. I can't prove a negative. No one can. I can't disprove God just as much as you can't disprove the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Know what? I don't even need to try. It's not my problem. Those who make the positive assertion are responsible for the "burden of proof". Theists assert "this god exists". It is therefore their responsibility to prove their claim. They may know absolutely that it's true, but until they demonstrate this "truth", no one else should be expected to believe them.
"That which is asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence."

I agree with what most of the guys (and girls) on here have said that it is not a very strong argument to say that something or someone exists just because the opposite can't be proven. At best it proves the possibility of the existence.
However, there is plenty of evidence for the existence of God. You can read Michael Beehe's (spelling?) Darwin's Black Box. It's not a Christian book, and it's not the easiest read, but it proves that the evolution theory is no longer valid and that intelligent design is much more plausible. Or you can go get yourself The Case For Creator by Lee Strobel. There's a book and there's a DVD (the DVD is just a little cheesy in a couple of spots, but makes good valid points nonetheless). The truth of the matter is that many reputable scientists believe that creation (and therefore the existence of a Creator) is much more plausible than the evolution. But because of the political and personal implications of that truth, these facts are often swept under the carpet. How about we all do some real actual research instead of Christians saying that "we know God is real and that's good enough for us" and Atheists saying "you guys are as primitive as the cavemen who are afraid of lightning and worship rocks"? Believe it or not, there are plenty of very intelligent men and women on both sides of the fence. But I do believe that there is one truth, truth is not relative. If something happened (like creation or evolution) then it happened. It's not true just because I like it to be true. So I think we'll all arive to the same conclusion if the smart people on both sides are willing to be open-minded and do some research to see if what they believe can be substantiated instead of cherry-picking the data that supports their faith (evolution is a faith too, since no human was there to witness the origins of life and evolution is not something that is observed in our lives today, then it's nothing more than a theory, which you have to choose to believe or not believe).

You cannot prove God exists or does not exist; it is a matter of beleif. There is no way to "scientifically prove" anything; if someone tells you thisandsuch is "scientifically proven" then you know he's a liar, or just doesn't know what he's talking about.
However, you can disprove something by finding one counter example. You cannot find a counterexample to God, so the question is phrased wrong (not assaulting you, jsut trying to inform) the question should be phrased "how do you prove that God does not exist"; the answer is you can't; if you were to find just One God, then all the theories would be disproven; and even if you don't find one; all that proves is that he's good at hiding (or that you're bad at looking ;).
I hope this helps/informs you,
Have a good night, and i hope the morning finds you well.

Atheists are people who disregard God (otherwise they would be agnostics). It is much like being angry with your school principal for making the rules.Voltaire once said "even I see a miracle I will not believe"
Eldad9 If there was a book describing the elliptical path and if there were a few Chinese potters willing to die to prove they were the creators of that teapot; I would believe.
Upsman ,I am very impressed with your answer.Yes everythihg on this planet has a creator .If Atheists say there is no Creator for life then they have to prove that.

i, nor anyone else can at this moment, prove that god does not exist empirically. just as there is not a shred of evidence for god's existence, there is no evidence to show that any god/gods do not exist and as the saying goes, 'absence of evidence is not evidence of absence'. but there is anothere way in which a credible argument can be put for the non existance of god, an argument often used weakly by theists for explaining the universe, it's the where did all this come from then it can't have come from nothing, or the argument from incredulity. now i can't prove that god does not exist by empirical means and also i cannot prove that chickens do not speak in perfect english when people are not present. but that's a silly idea, chickens obviously cannot talk english, i mean they're not intelligent and they don't have the vocal apparatus to speak. but hang on the supporter of the talking chicken hypothesis will say, what if the chickens are magic, what if they are multi dimensional hyper intelligent beings in the form of domesticated fowl, what if, what if and so on. the idea of talking chickens can be defended in exactly the same way as you are defending god, by saying you can't prove it's not true. but chickens cannot talk and i know this because there is enough empirical evidence for me to use my common sense to discount any what if arguments as incredulous and i can go that last inch and say with certainty that chickens don't talk. and i'm afraid to say i can do exactly the same thing with god/gods. as i said before, there is not one jot of eveidence that any supernatural force exists. all of the empirical evidence seems to point to the fact that the universe is a self creating entity and that life is a natural consequence of the underlying physical laws. evolutionary theory is a cohesive and consistent answer to explain the various forms of life, including us. i know that the universe is expanding and the backgound micro wave radiation exists and points to the fact that the 'big bang' did occur. i know from looking at the pictures supplied by hubble that new stars and planetary systems are constantly being formed by natural means without the aid of a god. and common sense tells me that the earth and its sun were created in exactly the same way. that weight of empirical evidence make the last inch of doubt very easy to cross in the same way i crossed the last inch of doubt about talking chickens.

Hi!
Asker - I totally agree with you. I am so disgusted with some of these stupid answers on here. I can see that our nation is going to go down in flames. God is the Living God; therefore, He "exists." Some of the problem with people is that they have to always "SEE" everything. You don't need any proof...you're a living, breathing, talking, thinking creature--that's proof enough for me! God does not have to prove Himself to anybody. Have you thought about we're too corrupt for Him to actually think He'll grant our request for something so preposterous? People are so corrupt that they killed God's Son, but He still spared our world. God is too Holy for us, His name is even too Holy to utter. Stop testing God--who are you to doubt or question God? That's worse than questioning the decision of your parent and you're just a child. My God, my God...please have mercy on these lost souls.
As I said before in another posting, I could care less what anybody says or thinks of what I say. You don't have a Heaven or hell to put me in, and trying to reason with me about false teachings will be the equivalent of talking to a steel wall. Form your weapons, they won't prosper. Talk about me all you want because they talked about Jesus and He was perfect. I'm a believer and a true Christian, and I stand up for what I believe in.
There's going to be a fire one day that the firemen can't put out, and I'm not going to be caught up in it. I'm yet praying for the blind to see and the lost to be found...

The burden of proof is on the atheist not on the theist. I can't mathematically prove there is a God nor can they mathematically prove there isn't one. By I can give evidence. Science cannot prove God but science plus a little common sense can give irrefutable evidence for a God.
There's design everywhere in the universe. You have to be blind not to see it. In your brain there are 100 billion neurons. Each one of those neurons(remember, there's 100 billion of them) is connected to 1000 other neurons. That comes out to 100 trillion connections in your brain. These connections send electronic signals(and you can measure the electricity) from one place to another. If part of the brain is damaged and you lose some function that is controlled by that part of the brain, the brain can actually re-wire itself and let other neurons in the undamaged part of the brain take over so that you can get back that function. That's only the connections in the brain, not the rest of the body.
Our bodies also have tons of information in the DNA. You have enough information in your DNA to fill encyclopedia sized books stacked from here to the moon and back 500 times. Do you really think that came about by just random chance........kind of like a monkey typing out the works of Shakespear just by randomly plucking away at the keys?
What science does is go out and find that design and then a little common sense tells us that where there is design there must be a designer. Who could design a universe? You call Him whatever you want. I call Him God.
What I just gave you is irrefutable evidence. The only way an atheist can even try and refute that is to deny design. You have to be brain dead to do that. It's everywhere. There are branches of science that basically just study the design in nature.........scientific disciplines such as nano-technology and bio-mimetrics. These disciplines study the design in nature.......whales,bats,dolph... have sonar.......and try to create machines that mimic that design.
I gave you solid evidence that there is a God. An atheist can give you no evidence that there is no God except that He doesn't see one. Because I don't see electrons doesn't follow logically that they don't exist. It just follows that I don't see them. Occams razor(a philosophical principal) says "All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the best one". If you and I lived back in the days of Christ(before autopsy's) and we came upon a body laying dead on the ground with 5 arrows in it's chest and I said" boy that archer was a dead eye shot" and you said "no, he didn't die from those arrows, he died from a rare brain disease", the burden of proof would be on you. The simplest answer is that he died from the 5 arrows. Similarly, If I am saying that the universe and all life in it came about by a god who created it and you are trying to say that somehow dumb mud bootstrapped itself into intelligence over billions of years by random chance luck, I have the simplest explantion with the most explanatory power.
I can give you good evidence that there is a God. The atheist can't give me any evidence that there isn't one. Like I said, the burden of proof is on the atheist.

It is not possible to disprove God's existence. But it is possible to prove it.
Many people don't believe that there is a God because they think that everything has been explained perfectly through evolution and other theories,
" Everthing in the fossil record appears fully formed and true to its own kind. There is no creatures with partially formed skeletons or partial fins or beaks. Among the billions of fossils found, we dont see one single example of the transitional forms Darwin said must exist if his theory of evolution were true) (experpt from Mark Cahill's.. "One Heartbeat Away")
If you think about it, our world has worked out too perfectly for it to have been created by evolution, or the big bang. Everything works so precisly. The sun puts out the right amount of energy to make everything function and work properly. Many people wonder "how could this world have come to be?".. How could it be so beautiful.
For instance if you look at a beautiful sunset you have to wonder.. who could have put it there?..
Its simple if you thing about it, If you were to look at a painting you know there has to be a painter that painted the painting. If you look at a building you know that it had to have been built by a builder. And the same for design and order. For something to be designed, someone has to have designed it, (a designer). And if you had an order of something you have to have an "orderer" that put it in order.
Our universe has order, design, art, and buildings in it that are man made. What makes us think that our universe does not have an orderer, artist, designer and a builder.
Many people say that christians have blind faith. When it is really atheists who do. Because they can not answer the question. "How can you prove there is no God".. it can not be proved because the answer simply is.. there is a God..
Lots of people dont belive the bible to be true. They say well.. "It can not be proven scientificly".. Many things can not be proven scientificly. For example, there is no scientific evidence proving that George washington was the first president of the United states.. But yet we still belive it. We believe it because it has been proven historically. There is more historical evidence proving that the Bible is True and that Jesus God's son existed than there is to prove that george washington was the 1st president of the U.S.
In the Bible every thing has been proven historically. And every prophecy has been fufilled, with the exception of the second coming of Chirst (for the Future.)
My point is not to argue. Not at all. But to say that it is very important to believe what the Bible says.. Many people doubt, even me. I daily doubt things. But i get through them.
Another thing... many people think good works will get you to heaven. This is a common but false belief. John 14:6 says......Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father but through me."
Eternity is forever.. why spend it in hell .. when you can spend it in heaven with God your creater who loves you.. The way you can do this is by praying sincerly to Jesus. "... Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe You died and rose from the grave to purchase a place in Heaven for me. Jesus, come into my life, take control of my life, forgive my sins and save me. I am now placing my trust in You alone for my salvation and I accept your free gift of eternal life"...
This is the simple answer.. Being a christian is not easy.. but life is like .. ...Say you are on a trip to disney world... and on the way you stop at a rest stop. This stop is like our time on this world.. On a journey into eternity...
Try reading the Book... One Heartbeat Away.. By Mark Cahill.. This is a very good .. influencial book

If God exists and loves us all, how can he be so murderous? Why would he create natural disasters that kill thousands of people? Why would he allow children to be abused and molested? Why would he allow women to be raped and oppressed? Why would he allow humankind to go without food and water? Why would he not stop these things from happening? I mean he loves us all right? Or he wants us to suffer? Or he wants to kill us? Or he wants to scare us? Does he enjoy these things? And if not, why does he keep doing them or allowing them to happen? Don't say it, it's a warning, or no, it's a sign, or no, hes punishing....wait what was it again? Where are the dinosaurs in the Bible? Don't you think something that significant should have been included in "the most important book ever written?" Why are christians against killing but support a president who sends American soldiers off to die in battle or who, in turn, kill the people they call evil? Wasn't Jesus a pacifist?
Do you have kids? Would you threaten them with torture for all eternity and throw a hissy fit if they didn't do what you said? Some kind of free-will eh? It all seems like a big load of rubbish to me.
OBEY ME OR YOU WILL SUFFER!! Yes, free-will indeed.
However, I know you do not think any of my responses answer your ultimate question, and that's okay. I don't need you shoving your religion down my throat just because you have preconcieved notions of the kind of answer your looking for. Any answer given to you, you will quickly brush to the side and pretend the holes aren't there. Trying to talk logic with someone who has no concept of it is like beating your head against a brick wall, it's okay for a while, then it starts to give you a headache.

I'm not looking for evidence to disprove god. I just simply haven't seen any that makes me believe that he does exist. And by evidence, I don't just mean science -- I mean reason and personal observations.
The burden of proof lies with the believer. You cannot prove a negative. Just like you can't prove that black widow spiders with butterfly wings don't exist. Even though it seems reasonable that they don't, and no one has any physical evidence to show their existence, there is no way to prove without a shadow of a doubt that they aren't hiding deep in a cavern somewhere that hasn't yet been explored by mankind. Does that mean that I should simply assume that they exist? Everyone would think I was stupid if I did ...
I hope you understand that we're not out to prove that your god doesn't exist. We just don't accept that he's there because we've not been given a reason to.
