Simply tell your friend that you like that guy and you have nothing against it. Telling truth from the beginning helps you eradicate whatever misunderstanding you can have in future. Hope that guy also like you.

If your friend does not like him, there must be a good reason. Therefore you should first try to find out if indeed this is true, what is the reason, and then reconsider the situation. If both your friend and you have the same way of looking at things, chances are that you would end up feeling the same after you have discovered the truth. In any case, the fact that your friend does not like him would simply imply that you would definitely lose her if you persist on getting connected with this guy. You should tell your best friend that you like this guy. See what her reaction is after you tell her. You will find out what type of friend you have after that piece of revelation.

Ask your gf with it is ok for you to "befriend" this boy. If she says its alright, hop to the nearest phone and give the boy a call and meet him later at a cafe or MacDonalds?

Stay out lest you'll loss your best friend. Whether or not your friend likes him is not your business. You get involved only when he's not attached or seeing anyone. Now that he still is, stay away.
