There are certain problems that should never be looked at lightly and one of them are lumps that appear for no reason on our bodies. Your first consideration, has it moved or grown? If it has you need to see a Medical doctor right away. I had a blood clot, a massive one, break loose in my left leg, travel to my right lung causing a Pulmonary Embolism, thus collapsing my right lung and ending up in a coma for 8 days. I should have died according to the doctors but for some reason I am still here and many others are not and for the same reason. Don't wait, go post haste. There are a lot of bad things that could happen but it is very relaxing to find out that nothing is wrong. Don't wait too long, because to long comes soon enough.
Good luck,

I had one once and it hurt too. Same thing as you describe. I went to the doc and found out it was an ingrown hair. He numbed it and did a little digging and pulled out a hair that I swear to god was 2 inches long. I'm a guy with hairy legs and I guess it happens once in a while to women who shave their legs. The hair doesn't quite grow out right and turns back in on itself. The bodies defenses naturally try to isolate the offending hair by encapsulating it, hence the hard lump...at least that what mine turned out to be. Have a doc check it out.....

happen over night? could be a bad spider bite or a bad under skin zit. the hardness is the core of either.
if it has slowly appeared, I'd get to a dr. for a biopsy

If you get this checked out you will feel so much better. It probably just a cyst or something harmless that needs draining.
