Cameron is pandering to the public and his "discovery" will be proven to be just bad science:
- The statistical analysis is not rigorous
- The name "Jesus" was a popular name at that time, appearing in 98 other tombs and on 21 other ossuaries
- There is no historical evidence that Jesus was ever married or had a child
- The earliest followers of Jesus never called him, "Jesus, son of Joseph"
- It's unlikely Joseph, who had died earlier in Galilee, would have been buried in Jerusalem
- The Talipot tomb and ossuaries probably would have belonged to a rich family, which is not a historical match for Jesus
- Fourth-century church historian Eusebius makes quite clear the body of James, brother of Jesus, was buried alone near the temple mount.
- The two Mary ossuaries do not mention anyone from Migdal, but just Mary, a common name
- By all ancient accounts, the tomb of Jesus was empty, making it unlikely that any body was moved, allowed to decay for a year, then be put into an ossuary.
- If Jesus had remained in the tomb, first-century opponents of Christianity would most certainly have found His body and put it on public display.
- Amos Kloner, the first archaeologist to examine the site, said the conclusions cannot be supported by the evidence but it's a way to make money on television. He would have nothing to do with supporting the movie's assertions. "It's nonsense," he said.
- James, the half-brother of Jesus and author of the book of James, the early leader of the church in Jerusalem, was martyred for his faith. Why does James make no mention in his letter that Jesus was not bodily resurrected? When he was about to die why didn't he just recant his beliefs and say, 'Okay, okay! My brother didn't rise from the dead. Here's where we took him. Here's where his bones are. Here's our family tomb. We made the whole thing up?' People will generally not die for a lie when they know it's a lie. Why would James die perpetuating a lie when it would have been so easy to disprove? In fact why would any of the apostles go to their deaths for something they knew to be false?
As I have expected, there has been **no scientific or historical find** that has ever been shown to disprove the authenticity of the bible's history or theology.
Kind of disappointing to see that all it takes is a press conference and a slick TV show for some folks to form life-altering opinions versus taking the time to rationally examine all the issues and dig a little deeper. It is the Macdonald's generation: fast, superficial, and never satisfying.

Seriously - I don't care about Jesus. His bones rotted away along time ago; but your question lacks logic. First, every archeaologist of repute has said that the conclusions you are quoting as fact are incorrect. If Christian archeologists said they found Goliath's bones, and other archeaologists came out against the claim with the same force your claim has been denounced with, you'd be on here making fun of the Christians.
Secondly, the man who made these claims has no reason to believe Mariamne was the wife of the Jesus in the tomb and not the wife of any of the other men in the tomb. Thirdly, there's no reason to believe this mariamne was Mary Magdalene and not Mary the Apple cart chick, or Mary the Cleaning lady, or any of the other 25% of the female Jewish population of the first century named some variation of Mary.
Lastly, there were no bones in the Jesus oesuary. FOr all you know this was the Jesus family tomb, they had a bone box made for him as a 10th Birthday present along with a Tickle me ELmo, and he never needed it. YOu are drawing rather wild conclusions from very little evidence.
OTOH If there were bones in the box, that would be proof it was NOT the Christianity founding Jesus' box. Crucifixion victims were not allowed to recieve burial. The gospal has to explain this away by saying Joseph of Arimethea specifically asked Pontius Pilot for Jesus' body, and put it in Joseph's own tomb.

There is no way to identify Jesus by DNA. Even if we found some bones, that would tell us nothing. How could identify the DNA off the bones with Jesus. You'd have to know what jesus's DNA looked like.
You say Jesus and Mary were married? A total myth. Show me one reputable archeologist or historian that believes that.
This is about the 5th time they have found an ossuary that had written on it 'Jesus Son of Joseph'. The fact is Jesus and Joseph were 2 of the most popular names for men at that time in history in that part of the world. It's like digging up a casket today that had written on it 'John son of Joe' and then assumming that this had to be John F. Kennedy's casket who was the son of Joseph Kennedy. There's a lot of Johns and there's a lot of joes out there today just like there was a lot of jesus's and a lot of josephs back in that day.

Christianity isn't shaking, only the bungling idiots who are trying to shake it! There's "no" proof, (or didn't you catch that?). If they take some DNA from these supposed Jesus bones, what would they match it up against? There's no DNA on file to match it up against...DUH!!!
How many "mindless" people are really out there that believe in and fall for this crap?!
And why is it that around this time every year, (right before Easter), some "genius" comes up with another "discovery" that proves Christianity is a myth?
(Why don't these genius' put the same amount of energy debunking some other religion... like the Muslim fallacy?

"As regards the Word particularly, it has existed in every age, though not the Word we possess at the present day. Another Word existed in the Most Ancient Church before the Flood, and yet another Word in the Ancient Church after the Flood. Then came the Word written through Moses and the Prophets in the Jewish Church, and finally the Word written through the Evangelists in the new Church. The reason why the Word has existed in every age is that by means of the Word there is a communication between heaven and earth, and also that the Word deals with goodness and truth, by which a person is enabled to live in eternal happiness. In the internal sense therefore the Lord alone is the subject, for all goodness and truth are derived from Him" (Arcana Coelestia n. 2895).

No, not shaking!! When people have kept and passed on knowledge of a fact from father to son for two thousand years then some idiot who thinks that he knows something brings up a theory two thousand years later, where is his credibility? There were many people of the names Yeshua, and Miriam and Yoshe. If I went to a cementery in Australia and found a Lincoln, should I rush to the conclusion that Abe was actually burried in Australia next to some presumed lover. All that is bull ****!!

This whole business is nothing but a money making exercise, I'll not say my opinion on it, as I'm a Pagan and you Christians know how we Pagans feel about your false religion.. I agree with the people who say about the DNA, what are they going to compare it to ? This is simply a family who shared similar names as to the alleged Bible characters and lived in and around the same time frame, no more..I'll give you an example , how many John Smiths are married to an Anne and let's say have a son named Peter.. I'd bet there are quite a few... Also considering this family may not even be in the exact time frame as carbon dating etc is not perfect... Love and Light .. )O(

I guess you missed the parts of the news stories where they said that the archaeological community has unanimously dismissed the idea that Jesus' bones were found.
These bones were not found recently. They were found years ago. But we're only hearing about them now, thanks to Cameron's "documentary." What does that tell you?
Some anti-religious people will believe anything they hear that suits their agenda.
