no he is not the leader of the muslim religion as a whole. he may be a muslim religion for his country or his people, but the whole muslim world. we muslims dont have the pope that christians have. anybody can be a khalifa. for eg: khalifa of the country is the prime minister or president, khalifa of the family is the husband or father..
