You are quite correct. The God of the Bible does not act like a reasonable or fair person...though he demands to be known as such.
Remember that supposedly God is the one who set the rules in the first place. God is the one who decided at some point that there would be a debt to pay and what might or might not repay it. And then God turns right around and goes through a whole song-and-dance to relive humanity of a debt that he decided we owed. When it could have been just as easy (or easier) to simply forgive and forget. But for some reason God decides to put odd restraints on himself...and us by direct extension.
This is not the action of a good entity. This myth could easily be descibed as the First Frame-Up.

We don't suffer because Adam and Eve goofed up. We suffer because WE goof up. We inherited a world which had wars, bigotry, hatred, fear, and ignorance all before we were ever born. In a way you are right. It doesn't seem fair we got stuck with all of this mess. But God doesn't hold us accountable for what we are not responsible for. We only have to answer for our own actions.
God is fair because He has shown us all mercy. ( I won't preach the Gospel here, I'm sure you know the story) I ask God forgiveness of my sins. I don't blame Him for them or make excuses. I know I am not always right. But when God forgives, the slate is washed clean. Our sins are forgotten. The world still carries the weight of all humanities past mistakes. But we have a new chance each day to live our lives for Him and to be grateful for his forgiveness.

Tell your grandfather not to smoke, or sleep around, how is that unfair to you.....
God gave mankind a chance, and Satan tempted them. If anyone, be mad at Satan if you are asking such a question, but God is just and the same right/wrong He had, is the same He has now.
I think the best example was from this website......a person asked "would you be tempted if you were in the garden of eden?"
My response was, I'm not sure, Satan is the King of lies, he could sell you something you don't even believe in and then when you are looking around for your reciept, he is gone.....You are mad, of course, so why not blame God, since He is the one that wants you close to Him, since Satan is nowhere to be found....
We all suffer, but we all have so much to look forward to if we just accept Christ as our Salvation. It wasn't personall, even though God knows us each, and our thoughts......He just wants our faith right now, that gets us into a relationship with Him

Well, I'm an atheist, but i have a point to add to yours:
if God forgives everyone for their sins, how can he condemn so many innocent people for one person's mistake? Not that I actually believe in the Adam & Eve story, and the painful birth punishment, but that's just my point I would like to add to prove how contradictory the Bible is.

It was not just the knowledge of evil, but the knowledge of good and evil. You can not know one without the other. How do you know hate without also knowing love? or vice versa!
Knowledge of good and evil is what would also make freewill possible. Without this knowledge it would be impossible for anyone to make any choice of their own because they would be incapable of understanding that they have options or what the difference between them is. Which means if this story is true freewill came from the devil.

why would god create evil if he didnt want us on some level to know about it. besides, there is no garuntee that someone else down the line wouldnt have eaten the apple. plus, think of how weird the world would be if some of us knew evil, and some didnt. we wouldnt be able to live in the same spots. the world would be ENTIRELY differant. some of the best parts of this world have (strangely enough) come out of some of the worst. it all happens for a reason, so live with it.

*God too feel for this evil suffered by HIS sons and daughters. So,he sent HIS son to die in the cross for cure our evil.
*B'coz of this caring, love, affection,he is not unfair.

nobody is perfect. it was bound to happen sooner or later. everyone has sinned, including you and I. if you were one of the first people on earth, you would have most likely done the same thing. everyone can be leaded into temptation, no matter how much of an 'angel' you are. don't blame God, you should be ashamed to say God is unfair.

Have you ever broke God's law?
Case in point, it doesn't matter if you ate from the tree, you still break much worse laws than eating a certain fruit.
