Best friend in the world, girl I would die for is single and lonely. And in her complete vulnerability, I am attracted to her now. I never was before. But now, I can't stop thinking that we could be more then just friends. I'm not talking a hook up. Is it possible. All answers welcome.

And if so, how you would advise going about it?

Friends can be lovers....yes of course. It could be that these friends will grow more together than apart because of the fact that they grow to know each other more and this can lead to being lovers. If this is the case and you feel this way then you should explore your feelings in this regard and if they are genuine maybe the thing to do is to talk to the girl and see what her feelings may or may not be on this issue. If things work out maybe you and she will one day get married but I think it is a matter of knowing if you are compatible with each other and have similar wants and needs and goals in life. It should not be based on any physical attraction because love means much more. Love is growing old together and still loving one another long after the beauty is gone. If someone looks ugly on the inside then that ugliness will never fade away. Remember that love is kind and patient, it is not arrogant or rude and love does not insist on its own way.

Tell her how you feel, and let the chips fall where they may. Explain that you've had feelings for her as friends, but now your emotions are reaching a serious stage. Tell her you don't want to lose her friendship, but you also would like to offer her more in terms of comfort and security. Just make sure of your true feelings before you approach her. If you hurt her or use her, then you may lose everything, even if you have good intentions.

of course friends can be lovers. like people say, love is friendship. love starts when friendships become grower. when friends(a guy and a girl of course) become best friends, know each others, so close, lot of similarities, the feelings to love came out from each heart, well, usually. but, not all best friends love each other. but in your situation, you have to see whether is she like, flirting with you or any hints that shows she likes you. then, just express your feelings to her. if she didn't love you, be cool and directly say that, whatever it is, we'll still friends right?
that's all. good luck!

Of course friends can be the best lovers so far. this is because you grow into love together knowing what she wants and her knowing what you want. at the same time you both know each others' weakness and therefore you work together to uplift each other.

Friends can be lovers, but after a while you stop being friends and become lovers first and friends second.

Most definately! Being friends to begin with, that is the best thing! This way you both like each other for who you are.
