If you were to walk through a crowded place and see a service member, what would you do? Would you thank them? Nod at them as you passed? Curse them? Why?

Even though I'm in disagreement with the war, I would smile and nod as I passed, and possibly stop to speak if I had the opportunity or the time and they seemed interested in speaking. Despite my personal beliefs on the politics of the war, I think it's wonderful that there are so many men and women who are willing to join our military and make a commitment to protecting the country, and I realize that many of these men and women are doing this even though they also may be in disagreement with the politics of the particular conflict going on at the time. That takes a great commitment to our country, and for those men and women willing to make such sacrifices I will always be thankful.

I might nod at them however great they have sacrificed though in general since I have family members in the military I feel deep pity for them. Our family was lied to.promised things that never came through.told they would never see Iraq.I honestly hate recruiters guts. They like to lie ,wine and dine the 18 year olds and get the school kids too.I would rather see a kid work in fast food than join the military. They would at least have a chance then.My nephew has killed many ,many iraqis so now he is mentally disturbed perhaps even dangerous. There is no glory in war.

Usually I nod at them, would speak if I had the opportunity and say thanks. BUT UNFORTUNATELY, I am in a foreign country and am often ashamed of the way our military act off duty. Often you can hear them coming from a distance, foul mouthed, cussing using words like F this and that, and MF is a great thing for foreigners to have to hear from military who are guests in their country.

Where I live even puts up large signs welcoming the US Navy twice or so a year, so no one says anything, just shakes their heads in disbelief. Their own army/navy always acts with respect, and would be put into the brig if they did otherwise.

Probably avoid them, they might be a vet asking for money (why else would they be in uniform in the middle of town?).

I wouldn't curse them, unless it was someone I knew who was a total jerk (like the deliquent army brat who broke my suitcase and got kids to jump on my roof. Glad they sent him back out).

I usually try to smile at and say hi to everyone I meet.

I wouldn't thank them though, most of them are in it for the college money, and we're paying their salary and holidays etc. Why not thank a doctor, a teacher, a policeman? I respect policemen.

I would do what I would do if they were a normal person. If they said 'hi' to me, I would respond with a 'hello', if they said nothing, I would say nothing.
