when you die

2007-03-05 19:23:48 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

Undoubtedly you are the SOUL. You will be free from cycle of life and death only when u attain moksha or nirvana. When you die your soul is seperated from the body and enters a new one and u carry all your goods and bads which u have committed in ur prev life.
To attain nirvana your soul should be free from all sins and no negativity inside you.
Nirvana cannot be attained in a single life.It depends on percentage of negativity u carry with u and how quick u come out of it.This can happen only thru meditation n yoga.

You are not the body. The body temporary while the soul in side the body, you, are eternal. The body is like a dress which, when old and torn is thrown away to accept another new one.

Lord Sri Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita(8.5-6),
And whoever, at the end of his life, quits his body remembering Me alone at once attains My nature. Of this there is no doubt.
Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, O son of Kunti, that state he will attain without fail.

Regarding "Atma"(soul) let us learn from the Gita itself.

Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be.
Bhagavad-gita-2.12

As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.Bhagavad-gita-2.13

Those who are seers of the truth have concluded that of the nonexistent [the material body] there is no endurance and of the eternal [the soul] there is no change. This they have concluded by studying the nature of both. Bhagavad-gita-2.16
An excerpt from the purport by Srila Prabhupada.
There is no endurance of the changing body. That the body is changing every moment by the actions and reactions of the different cells is admitted by modern medical science; and thus growth and old age are taking place in the body. But the spirit soul exists permanently, remaining the same despite all changes of the body and the mind. That is the difference between matter and spirit. By nature, the body is ever changing, and the soul is eternal. This conclusion is established by all classes of seers of the truth, both impersonalist and personalist. In the Vishnu Purana (2.12.38) it is stated that Vishnu and His abodes all have self-illuminated spiritual existence (jyotimsii vishnur bhuvanani vishnuh). The words existent and nonexistent refer only to spirit and matter. That is the version of all seers of truth.

That which pervades the entire body you should know to be indestructible. No one is able to destroy that imperishable soul.
Bhagavad-gita-2.17

Lord Krishna gives further information in verses 22 to 25,
As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones.

The soul can never be cut to pieces by any weapon, nor burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind.

This individual soul is unbreakable and insoluble, and can be neither burned nor dried. He is everlasting, present everywhere, unchangeable, immovable and eternally the same.

It is said that the soul is invisible, inconceivable and immutable. Knowing this, you should not grieve for the body.

You eternally are a soul. For the present you are in human body form within which the eternal soul is resting. The soul will always live in one or the other body. The advantage of being in a human body is that, in this body you are fitted with equipments which can make you realise your true form ie the soul. That is the reason why true saints give so much importance to the human body form. Other animal bodies also have souls in them, but not equipped to practice the path for realisation. They have to wait for their turn to be born in human form.

You are a spirit. You have a soul and you live in a body. If you are a Christian when you die your spirit and soul will leave your body and go to be with Jesus in heaven. Your body made from dust will return to dust. Thus you will be free from the earthly mortal body. Then your spirit and soul will wait to be given a new heavenly body which is immortal and free from all diseases and weaknesses on Jesus' second coming. You will then live eternally with great joy and total freedom in the new heaven and new earth

I is the Atman , the energy which gets transformed . It is neither created nor destroyed.
You are materially the body (which can be seen), in which the spiritual soul lives(unseen).
Freedom depends on the Great Soul , if he desires , you are supposed to be freed from the Karma of Life and Death.

you are spirit ,living in a body that develops its soul,
you have evolved [your spirit has evolved to the stage where you are allowed human incarnation to develop a [your] human soul,
most only have to do it one time to achieve higher incarnation

even so there are many higher incarnations as you shed your soul body to free the spirit trapped within
each incarnation allows the spirit a larger being new soul body

you as we all can burden our soul with so much animal manner so as to necessitate further births but this is more unlikely than likely
most likely you if you have lived well will burst out of your soul immediate or soon after your body [flesh ]dies this is normal ,
your spirit immediatly clothes itself in a new soul body shell
but in the higher being ,you will then find yourselves

but it also is possible to loose [shed ] your soul to begin the fall toward reincarnation if you remain bonded to negative being ,in which case you grow smaller untill [and only if ]you fall so low as to nessitate a new incarnation ,but such is the exception rather than rule
one human incarnation in these times will mostly be all we need be given
