The electron is there---you cannot see it without a microscope
God is there----you cannot see Him without faith.

And if what you have heard of God is bad---try asking someone who understands and reads the original language, and the original texts. Scriptures like scientific research often get misunderstood. You may hate me, but I care enough to reach out to you---------I believe that the love in my heart for others came from my faith in God, and I would like to see that love spread to you and others. No disrespect. Just love.

Messianic Jew-

There have been times with I was without (or with not much) faith that I have seen God ('s works).
At times, when I least expected.

He can show him self without us doing anything.

so I'd say it is close to being right

I'd replace God with (answered) Miracle though.

It is a very poor analogy.

First, you cannot see electrons with an electron microscope.
Second, both a microscope and the atomic formations it analyzes are real, physical, testable things.
Third: Faith is not testable.
Fourth: Faith is not a reliable method of testing anything.
Fifth: If you insert "Unicorns", "Giants", "Wizards", "Time Machines", "Xenu", or any other imaginary entity in the place of "God", the end result is no different: Belief in an imaginary being with no basis for said belief beyond "faith".

I don't hate you. But I do think you're wrong.

Edit: I cannot prove you did not witness "miracles". But neither can you prove that you did actually witness a "miracle" at all. Therefore I have no reason to believe you.

You're not being disrepectful in your post and you deserve respect in return.

I think many of the above posters have given you one reason why the analogy doesn't quite work. I would offer one more: because that would 'prove' all gods. For instance, I could say "the electron is there - if you have a microscope. The green fairy is there - if you have faith." All gods and magical beings can fit in the place of "god."

I agree that it is important to study the original koine greek and hebrew texts. That is how I became an atheist. But it is important to study them yourself, and not take the word of a pastor who is telling you what all these words "really mean." Not to say that the people you mentioned *do* that - but to say that things like this are so important they demand you investigate them yourself.

No. Because microscopes exist and let us see things. Faith is something you made up. It's not a physical thing. It's not testable. It's not reality.

I read the bible. I went to church. Hell, I spent four years in catholic school. And I came out an atheist. How much do YOU know about what you're supposed to believe without any evidence?

Faith is nothing but Conditioning, Programing, or Brain washing!
There is absolutely NO EVIDANCE to support the ideas of a God and we are not born with this knowledge. So it must be that such ideas come from other people saying that this is true without any evidance to support the claims!

To make matters worse people that believe in this God will say how unless you think as they do then this God that is all loving will damn you to eternal torture. CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT!

YOUR GOD MAKES ME SICK!

No matter how powerful your microscope is, you will never see god. So it is a dumb analogy. That is the point..........there is no proof of the existence of god. And if you need to have faith, why not have faith in the invisible pink unicorn ?

Not to be picky, but you can't see an electron WITH a microscope, either.

If one needs faith to see God, then how did Abraham see Him the first time?

The electron is there, its made of matter, its REAL. God is not and cannot be proven ever. You can have faith in him, but you still can't prove he exists. So no, the analogy does not work.

Nope. Horridly weak. You can't see an electron with a microscope. The various means of detecting electrons are objective -- reproducible by all.

So you're saying that if I have faith god will magically appear to me? LIKE OMG WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT BEFORE!?!?!
Oh yeah, because faith doesn't let you "see" a god, it only makes you "believe" in a god.
